Or maybe not even invade. If there is some sort of designated international whipping boy, can we not impose ridiculous sanctions on them with impunity to make other people like us a little as a result of the dog-piling?

Reduce unemployment via conscription!  More infantry is less poverty!  For Romania!

Can you ban political parties? If so, ban all of them except the one that's in power. Also, ban the Romanian Orthodox Church.

You can easily ban the Orthodox Church, for a small stab hit if you so will it, but no point. Declare Hungarian and German illegal, make Romanian official ! :P
