Mission One BriefingOkay Spartans, ready?
Your first mission will be a saved simulation taken from the memories of Fireteam Sydney. Sydney were deployed behind enemy lines and tasked with the recovery of a captured UNSC research base. The Spartans chose to take the stealthy approach, waiting for the cover of night they snuck in and managed to take the Covenant guarding the base by surprise, eradicating them all before reinforcements could be called. How you choose to do this mission is up to you Spartans, but Sydney managed to pull it off with no injuries sustained, can you do the same?
Just like when this mission was first completed, the Covenant have set up Jammers in smaller labs around the main base, these not only block communication, but also mean we can't get an accurate read on how many Covenant are in the area. Your objective is to kill all enemy forces and deactivate the jammers. How, I don't care, just get it done.
Both teams will be dropped off via Pelican in a large cave just south of the compound. For this simulation both teams are to work together, I... well the Commander, wants no shenanigans in the field. Good luck Spartans.
Turn Zero: Fireteams
Bastion, and
Griffon have both been dropped off through an opening in a large cave just south of the complex. There are
two pathways out of the cave,
the first is quite wide, and leads down towards the plains upon which the compound is located. This is the most direct route and will probably be the most heavily guarded.
The second tunnel is far more narrow, barely wide enough for two Spartans abreast to walk through, and leads up into the hill. The cave itself holds nothing of value for you. It is just beginning to darken outside, night will be here soon.
