And yet, in this thread, I'd like us to strive for a little more than just image spam and stale memes in ALL CAPS. I don't expect anyone to take 40K seriously, but I would like to keep the signal to noise ratio in this thread higher than, say, the average youtube comment chain (or whatever cesspool you prefer).

I take it seriously about 90% of the time.

For example, apparently that inquisitor: martyr game has been in early access for a while now. Anyone tried it out yet? Steam seems to have mixed to positive reviews.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I'm trying out a variant WE scheme based on a piece of HH art of a late heresy Red Butcher terminator.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I like how it looks, the white contrasts well with the red even when I add some more touches to make it grubbier. I'm debating with myself on whether or not to add blood effects to the model or not. It's a test model, so really I should just do it and see how I feel, but I always hesitate to change a model I'm content with.

EDIT: Also, white is a pain in the ass to work with. Getting a smooth coat takes ages, more ages than I'm generally willing to spend on it.

I think it looks fine as is right now. Blood splatters would be cool I guess if you can get them right, but I'm not sure they add all that much given how much red is already in there? Though they do help get that gritty ancient traitor marine aesthetic down.

Perhaps if the armor is more dominantly white, then the blood splatters would stand out more? You do have relatively large white surfaces to work on I suppose. You could give it a shot and see if it works out, but if it doesn't that's some work down the drain.

You know, its a damn shame they never made a sequel to Dawn of War.

At least we'll always have ultimate apocalypse. Which is slated for another (big) update somewhere this year, if the stars align just right.

Also, I don't think DOW2 was that bad honestly. Never got the third one cause it really didn't look good, but the second one's campaign was fun to play through (even if it got repetitive at times) and actually made the space marines feel more true to their lore counterpart, which is always nice.

DoW 2's only two failing in my mind were:

1. Too many reused map assets. When you've played the same map 4 different times in the campaign, each time coming from a different angle, you start to get bored very quickly.

2. Next to no story scripting. This goes right along with #1. DoW2's idea of engaging gameplay was to throw 1 to 3 squads of 3 enemies each all over the map in little clusters, so you could tediously hunt them down (for no real benefit IIRC, maybe XP?), or just skip around them and do the objectives. There was nothing happening in DoW2 like there was in DOW 1 with the exception of the Angel's Fall mission. If there had been half a dozen more missions like Angel's Fall in DoW2, I might have been tempted to say it was a richer overall game than DoW 1.

3. (Bonus gripe) The boss fights felt like they were designed for MP. Playing them SP kind of sucked ass due to them being designed to require all your guys to move constantly while still doing damage.

Well, it appears they’re expanding the AoS Tzaangor line even further into 40k now, with the Shaman joining the ranks.

I’m still not sure how I feel about it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I liked DoW2. The campaing was fun enough even if repetitive. I felt the expansions were less so.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?
