I bought the guard codex today.
Haven't really read much but feel free to AMA.

For starters, they address Cadia blowing up. Apparently new regiments are literally being bred from the old ones and raised and trained on their way to new war zones.
Which says a lot about the maternity leave policy.

I can only imagine how the Commissars must feel; after all the training they go through, they're assigned to a regiment of babies (who have presumably been issued with flak diapers and las-rattles) on the assumption that it will be years before they have to fight.

The timeline being bumped forward a century probably helped get the numbers back up.

Since it's 2 AM and I can't be bothered to read all those heretical posts for once...
Well, I only can say that regarding WH40k books - I find a fair amount of them in Polish libraries, even in complete backwaters. Either WH40k is way more popular that I'd have thought, or they are actually pretty common.
I find tins if them here in corn, er ohio, local book store I have has a section of the sci-fi section devoted completely to wh40k books including a big one with the emperor on it.

Speaking of time jump forewards, what's happening with the tyranids? They've only been showing up for like three centuries, right? So shouldn't their invasion have advanced some?

I think the massive new warp rift messed up the tyrranids

That would make sense. I think their standard response to Warp phenomena is "what Warp?", since they have that giant psychic shadow to block it for them and they don't use it for anything. A Warp rift is probably not something they're keen on navigating even if they knew how.

There was something  about new hivefleet, which is not that much into fighting, but really keen on figuring out details on defeats of other hivefleets.

And so it was that the hivemind realized it had to assimilate the writers into the swarm in order to consume the galaxy
