Un-Train mages?
« on: June 22, 2014, 07:53:29 pm »

My last migrant wave had 5 mages. Aka: more than I need. I don't see a reaction to untrain a mage. How does one accomplish this?

I tried to alter their caste in gui/gm-editor to 0 (what a standard dwarf had) but a second later they re-joined their mage school automatically.

Edit: I'd also take an answer on how to get mages to stop spamming the combat log. It makes the log useless.

Wish there was a way to do it. Also try having the strangling/constant webbing bugs where dwarfs ignore their needs while being strangled/webbed for over 1 year and not being able to get the dwarf.

Only for Arcane dwarves. Once the are a proper mage, no.

so a full on mage, and a priest, are the only caste that cannot go back to dwarf? (and a "Secret !FUN!" dwarf that got transformed into a regular dorf, by a ward, cannot become anything other than a regular dwarf)

That one I would have to test, but otherwise: Yes.

i have a save, with a dwarf that wont transform into anything, because he used to be a "Secret !FUN! dwarf", not sure which "secret" he was, but he is not taking any guild memberships. i can try to find that fort, and upload the save for you to test it out.

edit: found the fort. i can upload it at any time if you want.

No need, I had a look at the raws. I remember now why that doesnt work: The first transformation doesnt use trueTransform, so they cant transform again. Which is something I did on purpose, otherwise they would transform into a "healed dwarf", and then later still transform into the demon/monster.

Heal dwarf!? The only true way to save them is swimming in lava. Once a secret fun, always a secret fun in my book.

Agreed,  Very dwarven sentiment.  Their culture has been built around madness and moods, any dwarf seen to be making pentagrams in blood or exhibiting strange behavior would, to every other dwarf, already seem to be deep in the throes of Stark Raving Madness.  Dump em in the magma.  Best way to check for everything, secret fun, fangs, moon-sensitivity, etc!
