Didn't know the charisma rule didn't apply here. I'll go change my hp I guess.

Undead HD aren't subpar.

I'm getting a fraction of the mummy racial goodness only.

Unholy toughness (the undead charisma to HP that you are mentioning) is a thing admittedly, but the only way I've ever seen to get it as a PC (it's normally only available to decidedly not PC available monsters) is to take ten levels in walker in the waste and get it as part of their dry lich capstone. (Or I guess just taking the five LA dry lich template might work as well. Although in most games I believe that five LA is crippling.)
Actually, I believe he's thinking of the way Pathfinder Undead work.

Undead HD aren't subpar.
They are, really. The hit points are great, but half BAB, mediocre skills, only one good save (and that in Will, which Undead Traits make mostly useless anyway...) mean they're arguably inferior even to fighter levels, definitely inferior to Barbarian levels, and positively pathetic when compared to Cleric levels.

I've never played pathfinder, but that makes sense to me.

Anyway, hd being bad or good aside (that is what the abilities are arguably for anyway), he could just be a Necropolitan to have the same effect for basically free (Well... Two levels. But eventually free.) So I don't have a issue with some weird arrangement. At this level at least. But I'm wondering what your plans are in the future, are you going to 'properly' take the first mummy level next and gain the abilities? Or are you going to take the second level of mummy and just skip the first level?

I'm about to board a plane. I'll deal with this when I get where I'm going.

I'll take the second level if I do take it, but I don't know that I'll bother. I took mummy because I wanted to be a mummy.

Well, part of the undead classes (all monster classes actually) are that you have to 'finish them out' so to speak, taking all the levels of the class in a row after you start them. Presumably to stop people from just dipping in to take the basic traits and abilities for free and then bugging out.

Oh? The book said you could multiclass at will, if I remember correctly.

Well. It says "When a character begins taking levels in one of the undead monster classes presented here, he must progress all the way through the class’s levels before multiclassing in any other class, including another monster class."

It also says (in the paragraph above) "If the character has no class levels, he simply gains one level of the appropriate undead class and may multiclass freely between that undead class and normal class levels." That's worded really poorly, and potentially contradicting the rest of the page that's around it and the rules from savage species. I guess the GM would have to rule on what that actually means (I can't find any errata for it at any rate). It could be talking about exp penalties. Or it could be read that monsters can multiclass in some way. Or that the rest of the page (and savage species) is wrong.

However, it would be really weird if you can multiclass if and only if your monster class level was your first level.

Considering the system, I wouldn't rule it out :P.

I'll wait for MNII's ruling. If necessary, I guess I'll revoke my plans for clericdom.

If you do turn out to be a cleric, I wonder if we should get a wand of lesser vigor, so far we've just been healed by npc healers, but if we leave on the hunt they may no longer be available, so it might be a good idea to pack some of our own healing, past the tiny amount that I can do via lay on hands at least. I was thinking about getting a wand of clw, since I don't think vigor is on the paladins spell list, but since we now might have the better option, shall we go for that? We could all chip in.

Edit: Invisible castle is back up. Rolling training rolls now.

First roll, nat fooking 20 m8

Edit2: I'll buy another masterwork large great scimitar then as I continue to think on my armor choices.

Take your time mate, specially if you're going to be introducing Remuthras character. I don't mind waiting.
