The Obsidian City (The Town Galam)

The sky above the creature's head was dark with night, barely illuminated by the two moons and billions of stars overhead. As it came around, the creature noticed it was not alone. An animal was by its side, loyalty shining in its eyes. The woods around the two were alive with the workings of the wild. They did not know where they were, just that they were alive and in an unknown world.

Companion's Name: Boo.
Species: Human.
Companion Species: Dire Capybara.
Class: Combat Caller.
Description: Riding upon the noble Dire Space Capybara Boo, Quelle calls forth the magic of the other realm, home of shades and daemons, source of power and magic, and then shoves it in weapons and beats people over the head with it. Or stabs them. Whatever works, really.
Obviously all this exercise is good for fitness, and for Boo's sake Quelle makes a point of keeping to a fairly low weight, resulting in an athletic build focused around upper body strength. Also, short hair and fairly light clothes + armour.

The breeze around the human whispered... Quelle, they said. Quelle, his name. The dire capybara, one of the few remaining in the world, kept waiting for its master to rise. And rise he did, despite being groggy from his seemingly hundred year sleep. The human's joints ached but he could stand up on his own. Now, he wondered, what to do? The sky above was still dark, and the woods all around still deep.

Picking a random direction, Quelle sets off. His companion, Boo, follows close behind. About 10 minutes later the human finds a shallow pit the hard way. He tripped, spraining his ankle on the rough landing. Boo joins him easily. It appears that there is a cave that goes a bit further into the ground, and getting out of this pit shouldn't be very difficult even with the ankle as it is. As luck would have it, Quelle began to remember some of his previous training as a caller. Furthermore, he is fully awake now and the stiffness in his muscles is lessening.

Check front of cave for signs of what might be within (claw marks, scat, fur, signs, skulls on spikes, whatever).

Quelle found a broken board of wood with some unidentifiable language scrawled on it.
"SOXVIG VAKNUXM"
He has no idea what, if anything, lives in the cave.
While he searched, the rest of Quelle's training came back to him.

Having decided he has nothing to lose, Quelle shouts into the cave.
"Well, hello in there!  A thousand pardons, but might I borrow some sugar? I assure you, I shall repay you tenfold as soon as I gain the funds to do so!"
Moments later, an ancient human woman comes out of the cave. She's wearing what looks to be a coat of goblin skin.
"Oh! So long since I've had visitors, much too long. I have some sugar back inside. Please forgive me. You had me surprised and I didn't remember to bring it out."
