GlyphGrpyh I won without
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Nice proof of concept, now needs game balancing to bring out more detailed strategies.

The winning strategy i used:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also, the game flow would be much nicer if you got rid of having to click "moving on" and put the next menu right on that page instead.

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff that could be added and changed, but we didn't get to start on it until Friday evening/Early Saturday morning, and we hit the time wall where we had to stop doing stuff. We didn't even finish implementing all of the actual events we had written out, several stats aren't implemented (stress, for example). Random events, like getting a message from your Electricity company that the power will be cut unless you pay a certain amount immediately because your bill is late, that's not in. The various things you can come across on the internet isn't in (despite being fully written).

And it's definitely not balanced!

But we hit the deadline, and this is what we had. As our very first attempt at anything like this, our first game as a team, I'm happy with how we did. If we did it again, I think there's a lot I would do differently and I think we could get even further. (We ended up scrapping a good chunk of our work and having to start over halfway through, without that we'd have had more than we do now at least)

I do think we'd like to do a lot more work on it, but we can't do it now, because that wouldn't be fair to the contest rules. We might end up making a branch where we add content and work on balance this week though. We'll see.

My game if you want to compiler : Here

the win32 exec is available here : here

It isn't story driven and the code isn't great either but it has been designed from the ground up to be somewhat easy to mod (so much so one of my friends is currently writing a small expansion pack for the game).

Thanks for having a look

What a coincidence that I'm making my first real attempt at creating a roguelike today. I'm not going to join the competition this time or anything, but...coincidences, y'know?

I could present it as my exciting "walk around empty, pre-generated rooms and never die" "roguelike" though. That'd definitely win some medals.

Unfortunately, my parents decided that we were going to paint the kitchen this weekend. I was unable to find time to even start my game. I recently got a job so I have no free time on weekdays. :(

Hello! I'm new here, I got brought in by a desire to make a text game + this intriguing ASCII game jam.

My Entry:
I spent most of my time working on a console tool so I would be able to make a true console game in the languages of the web that I understand best: Javascript, HTML, CSS.

The console tool is called Cobold Console: http://deathraygames.com/play-online/cobold-console/

...and the (half-finished) game is a post-apocalyptic wandering game called Omicron: http://deathraygames.com/play-online/cobold-console/omicron_game.html

Let me know what you think!
If anyone would like to use the tool or contribute, just fork it on GitHub.

When/where is the voting happening? What's going on exactly with the results of the three day? I'm confused. When do we send you our address so you can mail out our cash prize?

Ok, I've done as much work on my stupid thing as I can be bothered with. It's here, includes windows exe and the source code. Source code is a mess though :P

http://jgame.net.au/spacething.zip

I have terrible naming sense for these things ^^. It's a thing where you're in space, so it's Space Thing. Didn't get around to putting a save function in there or 90% of what I'd planned but wth :D
