Take note, you've already got the canteen from the set, so you don't need to buy it twice. Unless you want two of them, of course.

Might as well have the extra untainted water. I'll keep it.

Alright. Take note, you are currently lightly encumbered.

With my backpacks and kits, or is my armor doing it? Because so many people forget you can just drop your backpack before combat starts in a lot of situations.

...Huh. It is mostly your pack, though your armor gets you close. It'll probably take you a few seconds to get your pack off though.

Alright, I'm not encumbered, have personal basics and whatnot.  That is without rations, however.  How many rations will we likely need?

Quick Draw for emergencies, drop pack for enemies I see and know are coming. Simple! :D And yep, SO many people don't consider dropping their pack.

That'll take you three actions to get off, without having any weapons in hand. You can get a quick-release pack for $300 on DF1 page 25.

Don't have enough cash for that. Until battle, we won't see how viable my strategy is.

So what comes with the group basics that don't have yet?

Also, note that Kyle is lightly encumbered all the time, even if he drops his backpack.

It's good he isn't meant to be a hugely fast maneuverable guy.

Heh. Apparently. I'm trying to keep my character as unencumbered as possible to allow me to avoid incoming attacks better, since I have no armor and wear no weapons.

That being said, alassra isn't completely incompetent in hand-to-hand combat, so perhaps I shouldn't worry about it as much.
