It looks like the prediction model is using a one-day trend.  Have you tried using more lags to build the estimate, and maybe dummy variables for the day of the week?  It would a pain in the ass to derive the coefficients with spreadsheet formulas, but the XL Miner add-on is free and should be able to handle at least linear regression.

Yep, that's the normal trend. It really throws a wrench into the gears of my prediction algorithms. I should probably try and exclude them from the data set.
