That mostly matters when it comes to using heavier, more powerful weapons. Anyone capable of using swords can use a Slim Sword.

Hey Swordstar? Upon us all becoming First Class after this round (I think...) Would Runa be able to start with an Iron Sword via taking one off of a deceased Sellsword from before? Please? 

I thought healers can't use swords o_o

Priests can't; Troubadours can, if they pick Swords as the weapon they learn. OTOH, though, I think Priests are better with their chosen staff subcategory and they get self healing while wielding a healing staff, so it depends on whether you want mobility and attacking or tanky healing.

Troubadours can. They aren't as good as dedicated weapon users (mostly because they need to put points into STR as well as MAG, plus lack of special abilities), but they can choose between swords, lances, axes, or bows on promotion.

I'm not sure either of them is a good choice. XD Battle Mages use Anima, while Kosko uses Light and Noel uses Dark. It could be funny if she tried to learn from both of them and they kept telling her different things because their style of magic is so different from the other.

Nope. No looting items unless they have drop listed by them on the enemy sheet.

Also as a warning, Violet only has ~10 uses of her weapon left at this point.

What are you talking about? All the trainee weapons have around 30 uses.

The only weapons close to 50 are the iron stuff.
