Yes, you can have him alternate. The boost doesn't stick around mind you. Just until the next attack.

Berry is to alternate booting his fellow warriors until such time as they fall, or the enemy does. If he stands alone, he attacks.

Alrighty, I'll be doing the next round tomorrow. That being said, I'd like to point out that Berry doesn't have an actual damaging attack.
