You inquire about the black market but it seems no one believes you're actually the owner of a gladiator school... After all they've never heard of you. Plus you look like you might be part of the Inquisition. Looks like you need to build up your reputation a bit before you can use the Black Market.

[The black market won't sell you items that you're not high enough fame for. Just a balancing mechanic. They will sell weird stuff the others don't carry though.]

I think it's a valid problem. Maybe if people got heavy penalties or higher prices for buying that would make a lot of sense.

I think you're not understanding what fame is. It's just a different set of experience for your school. A levelling mechanic so that you feel like you're school's getting better over time.

You're somewhat disappointed to find that, while you were watching Jig train, The Copper Collosal has already accepted another match, and has no left-over gladiators to challenge you. Unfortunate, you'll have to find someone else.
