2120
The crew seems even more erratic now. I have a feeling that we are completely screwed. The security lieutenant Santiago is becoming even more paranoid. I tell ya, they have a screw loose. Our Chief Science Officer is focusing on weird genetic experiments having to do with our own genome. That programmer, Roze, is downloading stuff onto flash drives and stealing them. The security crew isn't doing shit about it. The Chief of Sec is spewing some Taoist shit to anyone who bothers to listen. The Hydroponics Chief is getting more attached to their plants. Morgan is bossing around people like hes the top shit, when he just paid to get on board because he didn't want to stay on whats left of Earth. Lal seems respectable, keeping up with the UN Charter and stuff like that, but the Chaplain is pissed off over it, saying that only God makes the rules or something of that sort. Our astrogator, Svensgaard, thinks hes top shit because he used to be a US Navy Captain. This is space, and everyone might die over some stupid crap. Our mining foreman, Arthur, is getting his miners ready for when we hit Chiron. And one of those scientists under the Sci Officer, Aki something, they don't even stop to talk to anyone. Just messing around on that computer doing whatever they are. Our captain somehow manages to keep us all together. I don't know how long he can continue. I'm just going to close this down, in case that Chief of Security comes over and yells at me for this. Might chat with Lal.

Maybe we should have a second round where we vote for the top5 voted factions? That way we all get a bit more satisfied with the outcome.
I second this option, so if you want to do it OP, you need to make the voting not close on the 17th!
Or, you know, if you ever want a poll again.

When do I make it close then? How about a 24 hour poll for each?

Looking really good! Thanks for starting this.

Me miserable! which way shall I fly
Infinite wrath, and infinite despair?
Which way I fly is Hell; myself am Hell;
And, in the lowest deep, a lower deep
Still threatening to devour me opens wide,
To which the Hell I suffer seems a Heaven.

So, are we voting from the four that got two votes? I'm sad to see that Spartans didn't get included, but that still leaves us with ☼SCIENCE☼ and ≡LANDSCAPING≡ option...

Then you get cities like Paris where you should basically just kill yourself already.

You won’t have to think anymore: it’ll be just like having fun!

Not at all, if you want to reuse it. Once the poll closes, there's no editing or re-opening it. Or removing it.

Looks like no love for Lal.   :P
The generic guy who wants peace? Shocker.

Spartans are highest-tied with 2 votes.  ???

Overall, five factions have 2 votes.  No majority, so pretty much either OP chooses which he prefers, or the next vote for one of them wins it.

Since I'm partial to the Free Drones, I'm comment that they're one of the five.

The other one-vote heroes are scrambling for inclusion, since only five and not seven are tied.  So unless somebody likes Lal, votes matter!

Unless you're Lal.  His zero vote represents an early assimilation by one of the more warlike factions.  Sorry Lal!

It's almost as if people didn't stop voting right after he posted! Or you. (Now the Cybernetic Consciousness and the Nautilus Pirates are tied for first with three votes.)

You sent a shiver down my spine with that.

I'm just going to use my newly found storymaking skills to retcon Lal and the other losers out.

Or you could use such skills to explain how they wound up in the service of one of the other leaders, or at least killed in the initial fighting.

Likely killed in the initial fighting.
Cult of Planet will likely lose, so either Cha Dawn was never born or he's a Gaian talent.
The entirety of the progenitor crew, including Marr and H'minee died in the space battle.

At the moment, it looks like we'll be playing Gaia's Stepdaughters, with Morgan Industries, the Cybernatic Consciousness, and the Nautilus Pirates being definite inclusions, along with a few of the Spartans, the crazy zealots, the University of Planet, the Free Drones, and the Data Angels. The Cult of Planet, UN, and Human Hive are pretty much guaranteed to not be in the game.

Aki-Zeta-5 might be a cyborg Yang. Lal would probably end up working for whatever faction ended up most in-line with the peacekeeping goals; the Free Drones seem likely if they're in, but if not, Gaia's Stepdaughters and Morgan Industries seem likely candidates. As you noted, Dawn would definitely be a Stendaughter.
If the Spartans are absent, Santiago would likely be a lieutenant of Svensgaard's. In absence of the Believers, Godwinson would probably end up something like the Pope--no armies, but a fair amount of influence. Zakharov would probably end up leading an actual university or research institute for the Cybrernetic Consciousness or Morgan Industries if he didn't make it in. Domai could be many things, from a pirate to a populist leader to the ethics advisor for Morgan Industries. Finally, Roze would probably end up as an important underworld figure if he couldn't make it as a world leader.

Just my thoughts. Make them work into your plan as desired.
