Considering that DayZ standalone is looking to become a PvE game...

And as far as I know almost ALL MMOs have it in there terms and conditions that they can ban you whenever and for whatever.

I'd like to point out that Sony isn't making this. Sony Online Entertainment is making it.
They are all but abandoning Planetside 2, which still is a very unfinished mess, for it. Also, remember that Smedley is in charge of this. The guy who crashed Star Wars: Galaxies, who is causing PS2 to go downhill.

I'd stay back and watch this one for a while before jumping in, especially if you plan on spending money.

To be fair, what's your source on them abandoning Planetside 2? On the reddit I read that PS2 will still have a larger team than H1N1.

looks like another big empty post-apoc snorefest. Graphics are just as blurry and ugly as PS2.

Unless they announce that they're adding the ability to plant gardens full of plants that fight off disco-zombies, I just can't see this being any fun.

Well, this got released today amid cries of Pay2Win for Early Access on steam. $20 US for the basic package. 40 for the premium. For a game that will supposedly become F2P. Yup. Anyone played this or know anyone who's played it and can attest to the P2Wness of it?

Besides that, I hear it's super buggy, and it currently has a "Mixed" score on Steam, and is generating wonderful reviews like this:

I dunno, I'm not interested at all in this until it becomes F2P, and even then, eh.

You forget Sony outright said that this game wasn't pay2win, so it must be true :P

In all fairness I think that comes from both
1) outright dishonesty
and
2) A loose definition of pay2win

But yeah the game is rocky enough to wait and play the free version...

RE: Planetside 2. I doubt they're canning it. They'll just do what SOE has always done. Move 90% of the team on to a new product, claim the remaining 10% is going to continue to expand the game, and 6 months later, you'll have some bug fixes and/or seasonal content and trivial DLC.

I bought it, I'd been waiting for this for ages and just wanted to get into it as soon as possible.

And I'm bitterly disappointed. It's a mess.

Now, I KNOW it's Early Access. I KNOW it's essentially pre-Alpha. But this is just awful. The graphics are similar to the original WarZ (now Infestation), and the gameplay is bugger than even that was during its early development. And that got absolutely slated, eventually pulled, and forced to rebrand.

At the moment, I can't really see any saving graces. If there are any, they'll be added in through the development stages, but right now it's no DayZ beater.

Added to the fact you can essentially P2W despite them saying it never would be, and you have a really shaky foundation.

Fingers crossed it gets better, rapidly. Until then, I feel like I've wasted £15 I couldn't really afford to waste.

Now, I KNOW it's Early Access.

Ehh, they are selling you it based on Early Access

and unlike a pre-order once your in Early Access you can't back out... So... by all means it is legitimate to criticize it based on its early state.

That and most of the big problems aren't things they will fix.

Looks like they're offering refunds now. That's good at least. They have said that they are not going to be removing the airdrops though, which is the big complaint I keep hearing. Paying for an advantage in an alpha that you already paid $20 to play is a really shitty move, especially because it's just going to become F2P anyways.

If they do Kudos.

I wish more Early Access games offered refunds, since the existence of early access is essentially a pre-order you can't cancel. Then again this is Sony they can afford it.
