I have an idea about what to do with those who we don't like: besides enslaving their souls, we could put said souls in little skeletal heads, like those of rodents, so that they can see what we do, but they can't react at all. What do you think about that?
I think it's incredibly cruel and unnecessary. +1.
+1. We could have reception hall with walls lined with the skulls of our reanimated enemies, I think it would make good right impression...

Then you get cities like Paris where you should basically just kill yourself already.

You won’t have to think anymore: it’ll be just like having fun!

Ahh, Bay12, you never fail me.

My idea was something like making a necklace with skulls (that's why I suggested rodents) and carry those who behave like assholes with us to see in first persoon how we massacre their families.

But I guess that a pit or walls lined with skulls grieving would be good too.

The Plains of Grating, Fifth Age
The Age of Death, Year 625

Day 16, After Midnight

The noble quarters is where you decide to set up your base, and soon enough you have taken shelter in the lower parts of the small keep that dominates the area. As the outer walls impressively show, the attackers made short work of any stonework, the upper parts of your dwelling having met the same fate. You strongly suspect that the damage is from magic, mainly because you don't think conventional siege weaponry could wreak that much damage easily.

After the equipment is stowed away in a dusty hall, you begin with searching the slums for anything useful, but mainly with the thought of skeletons in mind. Digging through the remains of the urban sprawl, you come across a few things over the course of the next two days. Most interestingly is the fact that you can rule out that the humans living in the near mountains are descendants of this place. You had your doubts when you saw the withered remains of a fresco at the keep, but after discovering the remains of a former citizen you are quite sure of it. The masters of this city were none other than a group of mino.

You found the skeleton poking out beneath the floor of a house, but further searches of other houses sadly reveal it to be a single incident. It is of note that the horns were forcefully removed from the skull, from the damages you presume that it was done with flesh still clinging to the body, maybe even during the lifetime of the deceased. While you are not sure what to think about that matter, your further searching only turn up a few finely minted copper coins with mino motif, a sword so very rusty you doubt it will do for more than two swings, and a polished nugget of rock crystal.

On the brighter side of things, you are able to cast spells again, albeit your medium manaburn is an incentive to not to do so until a later point in time. You also combed through the slums enough to be quite sure that there is no graveyard or similar hiding in them. Granted, since the last age came to pass, most cultures have started to burn their dead - but you have found no cinerary urns, and while you are no expert, the fall of the city could actually even fall before that point of time.

Status:
Well-Fed - Doubled HP-Regeneration
Lacking Sentient Nourishment - -1 Agility and Intelligence for Skill- and Combat-checks
Medium Manaburn - Makes casting spells and gathering mana harder. Resulting in easier miscasts. Funny how that works.

Well, I think that now we do magic research. I suggest going for divination. We need more information about stuff. Like, how many people are out there in the hills to kill.

Also, and only if we get the chance, hunt an owl.

Getting a skeletal owl is cool but I think we should do Ritualism instead as we already have some knowledge of it and if we get both we can make a Divination Circle wherein (at higher level) we will become omniscient!

Skeletal owl? No, a flesh one, with an ensalved soul inside. We will use it as a scout and communicate with it with soulspeaker.

Only Evocation is barred from research right now, as we have none of its branches. As mentioned previously, research goes easier the more proficient you are in the neighbhouring schools. Just saying is all.

Divination it is, time hit the books! Er, clay tablets? Sand and stick?

Gather some Mino skulls while we're out, we'll figure it out later...

Try to use soulspeaker on the skull we found. Then begin practice on Divination.

What's your alternative? Spend another turn searching the city? We can wait another week for it to go away all together, as well as some of our very limited food supply.
