Move through the village and have our grenades readied for tossing to the artillery.
+1. Move through the buildings, both to avoid detection by the artillery guys and to check for any soldiers or guerillas lying in wait.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

You walk through the buildings of the village carefully to avoid detection by the artillery. Soon enough, you arrive at a Church just in front of the main street. You'll have to cross this road in the open. You motion for one of the Hawks to move, and he runs out through the door. Just as he gets to the middle of the street, a laser hits him dead in the chest. Time slows for a moment, and enemy laser fire lights your building up like a Christmas tree. You duck under a window, and peek out to see the Hawk's condition. He has been shot numerous times, he's down for the count.

Suddenly, an explosion rocks the house. An enemy rocket trooper seems to be firing on your position from one of the houses across the street. It hasn't taken out any of your cover, but you'll have to deal with it. You assess the situation. There are at least five enemies pinning you down from across the street, and the Church you are in has a bell tower. You could dash house to house through the alleys on your side of the street, but your men might become too stretched out. You could also position yourself in the bell tower, but you might get yourself killed.

Ouch. Might wanna fix that formatting.

EDIT: Move as a group through the back of the church and enter the alleys. Skirt the hostiles who hopefully still think we're in the church and make a break for the arty.

"Get to the backside of this Church, I'll cover!" you yell over the laserfire. They turn and begin running, and you lean into the window and pop a few shots off at the enemy buildings. Once you see that your men are outside, you run to meet them. Skirting the enemies around the town, they never even realize you left the Church. You completely avoid them, and even see the Church taking laserfire as you come up onto the artillery position.

You are sitting behind a earthen mound, overlooking the artillery position. There are three gigantic emplacements embedded in the earth, on the other side of a trench. Each gun has a crew of three artillerymen. The trench is lightly garrisoned, and you could probably capture it for yourself if you were quick enough. Still, it might be safer to simply grenade the men in the trench and shoot enemies operating the artillery.

Grenade and shoot!

After which regroup with our squad and withdraw. We'll need to get back to the drop zone asap.

You toss a grenade into the trench, killing one of the three infantrymen inside. Your Hawks begin to unload into the artillerymen, killing all three crewmen on the first gun and forcing the others off of theirs, so that they could use their rifles. An enemy in the trench peeks over the side, so you set your sights on him. You fire one round, and it hits him in the chest. He falls back into the trench. A Hawk whips a grenade at the final enemy in the trench sending him flying out of it.

Two of the six remaining artillerymen begin to run to nearby rocks, so you take aim at the one in front. The first shot misses, but the second shot hits him right in the neck. He falls to the ground and begins to twitch. The other one looks down and turns to fire a few shots off at you, but you turn your gun to full auto on him. Five shots hit the ground around him before one of them finds it's way to his stomach, and then another hits him in the shoulder. He falls to the ground, too heavily wounded to fight anymore.

Your Hawks have reduced the artillerymen's numbers to only two, which use the final gun as cover. One of them turns around the corner of the gun to fire, but is pegged twice by one of the Hawks. You hear the final one shouting something in some foreign language, and he comes out from the cover with his hands up. You presume that he dropped his weapon. He is walking towards you with his hands up, speaking in a the foreign language.

Check to make sure he doesn't have any other weapons on him, then take him as a POW.

Walk backwards giving him the "stop" sign, if it fails, YELL as hard as possible to tell him to stop pointing at something near for him to understand, if it fails again shoot him. We can't let this guy go al-quida on us.

The man continues to walk towards you, so you take a few steps back and put your hand in front of you, gesturing for him to stop. He walks forwards faster, so you yell for him to stop. He puts his hand to his holstered pistol, and you fire. Just as you see the laser strike him in the chest, an explosion knocks you over from the side. The enemies from the town must have heard the fighting. The two Hawks are unfazed, and they begin to lay down fire on the enemies, who are coming up the hill, cover to cover.

You run behind a nearby rock, and peek at the enemy force. There are seven enemy infantrymen, two of them wielding rocket launchers. You aim your rifle at one of the rocket-wielding enemies and fire of three rounds. Two of them hit him dead-center, and he falls onto his cover. On your left, you see one of the Hawks take a shot in the shoulder. He hides behind cover as the other Hawk continues firing down at the enemies, killing the other rocket-wielder.

Toss a grenade! Grab the wounded Hawk and pull him into cover, yell for the other to suppress them.

You yell for the other Hawk to keep up the fire as you take out your final PC3 grenade. You look over your cover, and throw the grenade at a rock that two enemies are using as cover. One of them manages to see it in time to run, but the other one is too late. You set your sights on the enemy that left his cover, and fire off a three round burst. Two of the bullets hit him, and he drops. Three enemies are now left, behind cover.

The wounded Hawk peeks around the rock he's laying behind, and takes out one of the enemies as they come up from their cover. You see an enemy barely pop their helmet up over their cover, and you take the shot. Luckily, it hits him right in the dome and he goes down. The final enemy takes off running back to the town, but it put down by the other Hawks. You gather some of the enemy explosive at the artillery position and use them to take out the cannons.

You are now behind enemy lines, cut off from friendly support, with a wounded man, and enemies will probably be sending reinforcements to the area in great numbers. What now?
