Maybe this should die? I mean if you have nothing in your head to put down then the quality WILL suffer quite a bit. Maybe try again when you have a more concrete idea for a story.

I agree with Patrick here, our soldiers all wear a standard uniform which the bandits have undoubtedly seen. They'd spot us a mile away and pick off the squads we had in the taverns easily, it's not worth the loss of life this early.

  Alright, since we seem to have decided what not to do, how about deciding on a course of action?

  Unless a better course of action comes around, randomly patrol/search through the forest.

They're bandits, standard security measures like no fires are likely being ignored in deep forest. Wait until evening when they camp down and watch for smoke from the fires.

Maybe try finding good sources of clean water in the area to look for tracks? They need water as much as we do so searching them for signs of regular or recent use massively narrows down our search radius.
