Well this thread is rather sprawling. Hard to keep up!

A question for those who have been playing a little longer: is there an endgame to speak of, or is it all grinding for skill ups, reaching new areas with higher skill requirements and repeating that process? If there's a player driven economy beyond I might stick around for a while, but just grinding for the sake of it bores me.
The game opened to English players only Friday, it seems.  Right now there's not much, but there's been rumors of being able to party together, there's definitely going to be new areas, and I suspect -eventually- end up with some pvp options and world events.

But really, what makes that different than, say, WoW?  What's the point of that grind? :P

The only items you can get from NPCs are recipes, and up to bronze tier in all most resources.  Everything after that is 100% player.
You can sell items to NPCs.  So whatever the NPC will buy it for, double that, as a base-line price.  If it sells quickly, raise the price on the next offer.

Tnx

If you don't like managing progress Jelee, look into dungeoneering as a way to play and sustain yourself.  It's definitely doable and it's much more hands on.

I hope they do eventually push into PvP, I know they don't want to make combat a dominating focus of the game, but there's gotta be something to throw a wrench into the works, and it's not like focusing on combat has any particularly notable advantages right now (it's not terrible but I can't see it making more money then crafting), and it likely needs more sleep early on too, so guarding merchants and crafters being a requirement would be a nice way to mix it up.

Also yeah, that ascii map is great!

In general, 50/posts per page makes things easier to keep track of to a point.

Started a character called Isdar, with Flora as my starting skills. And the thread has more or less exploded since it was created so I don't know if you guys have a guild or a place where you meet up(if you even have that :P).

No guild yet, but we can see each other on the map, so don't worry about not being able to locate people.

So when you establish a mine like that, does it continually produce stuff without you working there?  Or how does it work?

It gives you access to the underground resources that are listed here: http://www.theriansaga.com/guide/territories/territory.aspx?id=E5AC0A5C-B4B6-E211-BE8C-782BCB902040
No, it isn't automated, but you can use companions to harvest for you.

On another note...this looks interesting: http://www.theriansaga.com/guide/itemTypes/itemType.aspx?id=e74bb47d-5c32-11e3-b701-005056c00008

On yet another note, I'm probably going to make my first workshop out cloth...

I think someone in chat said those vehicles are to transport encumbrance items when you want to move stuff between houses/guilds.

I caved and spent $25 on the New Arrival package. I wanted to support the game because its pretty fun.

I am thinking of getting another character, mainly because I want to be able to play more while i wait for timers. More characters means more game to play, also not being a jack of all trades is usually the best plan in these types of games.

Anyone else running 2 characters? Anything worth thinking about before i take the leap?

I was thinking of spending a little on the 100 Credit package, unlock all the toolbelt slots, one extra weapon slot, and be able to probably sell the other 10 for golds.

Yeah having two characters seems to be a good idea for end game dungeons.  You can have your main guy as a fighter oriented character with Fauna for high animal control, and herbalism to craft your own healing potions while your second guy can be support and earn you a stable and consistent income.  Your character who goes to dungeons would also make money of course, but it would be inconsistent and at the whims of RNG.

Could someone explain to me how Concessions work and their advantages when compared to those going without? That gold and a half is a hard pill to swallow for someone who's never had more than 70 silvers at any one time.

Also, has there been any real discussion over the creation of a Bay12 Guild yet? I know most of us are into the metalworking, and while I agree we should try to corner the market as much as possible, I do not believe that we should limit membership based upon that.  Preferable trade agreements (personally bartering) would be a better approach that would allow us to reach higher statuses a lot easier.

Yes, there has been real discussion over creating a guild...and the 200 or so gold required for 10 members isn't something we wont do untill later...on the bright side, I've seen at least 3 others with concessions so whoever has engineering might start getting some work.

As for a concession, you can get better land bonuses there then any npc area, even the starter simple machines have 13 in the skill and strength. Later on you can recruit better npcs then you can find such as 20 skill crafters.
