In the meantime, what about a discussion on guild/clan building?  I assume we'll want to really settle somewhere in the mountains, hopefully somewhere with camp-access to coal and maybe iron.

So the questions:
Is there currently an actual clan system in place?
Is there a clan 'camp' we could make and upgrade?
Is there a shared inventory?

Wow, server is back up already. Feel free to carry on discussing guild possibilities, although I think for the moment most folks are agreed that we should probably wait, as it's extremely expensive to set up and you can only have a few people in the guild to start. I'm going to queue up a bunch of stuff and go to bed! G'night!

Yeah, it's best to wait.  It will be easier honestly to supply new members with the means to expand their own claim to have access to resources like iron or coal.  I see a guild domain more focused on production.

Also I foresee us with at least 2 guilds, probably 3.  I'll mention guilds start with a 5 person cap once you build the outpost, 10 with the headquarters and 25 with a manor.  You can see their requirements HERE, the Political Agreement apparently costs 1k and takes spying of a high level.  So getting even ONE guild to 25 person is out for the foreseeable future. 

It'll take at least 200 gold per guild to get to 10 people, not counting construction materials.  I'll also remind that I do not favor building a guild hall in the mountains, unless we want to wait for our carpenters to get up past at least pine carpentry.  If we settle a guild in the plains around Hawkoria we could use anything to build with, and exchange it to a better material latter.  But, if we have multiple guilds I suggest we put the one for stone cutters where we want to get our boulders, since that takes a monolithic quarry.  That's the only resource that's special to guilds (so far).  We'll need megalithic stuff to make the bigger/better guild buildings anyway.

Training up exploration sure is a bitch. Probably the only total grind I've seen so far, in that you get literally nothing out of it aside from skill increase.

Well, it opens up access to new areas, so there is that indirect benefit.  Later on if you decide to dungeon a lot, you'll need high exploration.

I know why the skill is useful, I mean the actual training of it. Most efficient way is just to explore a low-level area until you level up and can move onto a slightly more difficult empty area. With other skills you at least produce something of worth.

I'm a new player, finally managed to bag some bears. It seems like bear meat is pretty wanted right now, but I have absolutely no idea how to value anything I make. Anyone know a fair price for bear meat or pricing tips in general?

Open the market button in the upper right, see what others are selling for.  If there's nothing there, check back periodically to see what it's sold for.  If it seems to be consistently sold out, but you see something sell, then price it higher than how much it sold for.  If stocks are there, then undercut them.

If nothing is up, check similar stuff and go for the same mark up.  Twice what it vendors for is usually a safe bet.

Well this thread is rather sprawling. Hard to keep up!

A question for those who have been playing a little longer: is there an endgame to speak of, or is it all grinding for skill ups, reaching new areas with higher skill requirements and repeating that process? If there's a player driven economy beyond I might stick around for a while, but just grinding for the sake of it bores me.

The only items you can get from NPCs are recipes, and up to bronze tier in all most resources.  Everything after that is 100% player.
