I'm trying to remember what I did when I was 18. I finished college and I went to university. I read a lot of John Stuart Mill. I drank a lot of ale. I played the accordion atrociously but the harmonica probably better than I do now. I visited Cuba. I read a lot of Aldous Huxley novels. I dated a few girls that I was really ill-matched with. I listened to The Magnetic Fields loads. I joined a running club and only attended one session. I lived in halls and ate omelettes and climbed balconies and bought mirrors and jumped out windows and left doors open and made a lot of friends. I'm tempted to say it was a good time to be alive.
