My empathy is a double-edged axe.
It does tend to have that effect in most cases.

My empathy is a double-edged axe.
I find that empathy is a good trait, but that one often gets mocked or put down for it, particularly if one is male, since males in many cultures are supposed to be macho and unfeeling.
That being said, empathy is a good trait.

Speaking from the other perspective, I can get by without much empathy (but the wife's not a fan.)  It's not that I'm "macho tuff," it's that I just am not a people person.

Which is perfectly understandable. I'm a more reserved person myself.  It's just that when I see one of my friends distraught I try to help, and since most of my friends are female it ends with the guys I know cracking stupid jokes and every other girl thinking it is cute.

Hmm, not I feel weird because I am [1] not a people person, I'm rather anti-social, and [2] still feel very empathetic towards people.

It's very odd for me.

...People like empathy where I am. o_O
It's attributed to 'drama' for some reason.
Humans. >_>    Down with that insulting facet of that culture!
It is a travesty to generosity and actual THINKING!

...You're very empathic when I talk to you.
Or funny.

Then we shall be bloody hipsters in doing the right thing and totally not care what snobs they are.
They can rot in their ignorance.
We'll be happy in what we do.

They can dictate their own lives, but NOT US.

Ehh? That's...weird.
You're pretty awesome. Really.
Very empathic people can be not people persons (though I found it an arguable point--the can be 'not people persons' if the people they've generally interacted with are...or have been acting badly towards them, but can be 'people persons' in general. :) )

Are we revolting so that we can be nice to people?
That is so bizarre and awesome at the same time.

I would assist this action, but then I'd be assisting the guy who assisted the initiation of global thermonuclear war.

I join this revolution.
