Fire Emblem in its entirety puts mucho emphasis on swords.

Swords = SUPER FANCY AND ROYAL OR SWIFT AND DEADLY
Lances = Mooks and soldiers and grunts and guards
Axes = savages and bandits
Bows = *crickets* random bowman from time to time

It probably has something to do with how the Lords are almost always Fencers or the equivalent.

Well, that, and the whole Medieval concept around swords being the weapon of nobility and how axes and spears and bows could be used for things other than killing people.

EDIT: Anyway, scapheap, would I be allowed to change from Pass to Discipline? I'm still not sure whether I want to or not, but I'd like to know if I could first.

Pffft, everyone knows lances are the least interesting of the physical weapons.

Well there is the uber spear but that really only a boss weapon and a lazy one at that.

Thrusting in general seems to be objectively better than Slashing.

Thrusting looks to me like a middle way between high Damage Crushing and high Crit Slashing with it's own pinch of high Hit.

5 points is such huge difference, after all However rapier's WT hurts. Imagine any of these lean&thin fencers/myrmidons trying to hold that thing. Ow.

Swords are in fact the best, but axes are great when you want to go 100% brute force, which I like.

I like lances. Swords not strong enough for me. Axes not accurate enough, tho. Lances have a good balance.

Swooooooooooooords. I tend to prefer myrm characters and the like. But decided to go for variety here in FEFs, so I'm doing a bunch of different stuff. It's fun! Also bows are cool. I like sniping people.
