Town in neighbors: does it mean anything?
« on: March 05, 2014, 11:43:03 am »

I have an embark side that has "Goblins, elves, dwarfs, humans, tower" and "Town".
What Town stands for? does it generate more often/bigger human caravans (sieges)?

Whenever i read the "doesn't care about anything anymore" line, i instantly imagine a dwarf, sitting alone on a swing set. Just slowly rocking back and forth, somberly staring at the ground, and stopping every once in a while to sigh.
It's mildly depressing.

That town is owned by a necromancer!

Well, you will get sieges, and they probably will have humans in them...

Stick to the middle of your map, and have plenty of cover and an 'everybody indoors' alert. Trees make good cover, but pillars or walls will do as well.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

It's just a town ruled by a necromancer. You'll get undead sieges and the odd necromancer, just like a tower.

There once was a dwarf in a cave,
who many would consider brave.
With a head like a block
he went out for a sock,
his ass I won't bother to save.

Necromancers are why I've abandoned the surface world of many forts. It's generally not worth the mess.

I once tried to embark near one of those things, thinking, "How bad could it be?"

It was really bad.

If you "cleared out" this tower in adventure mode does anyone think the site would now be free from a necromancer ?

May I assume that "Mountain Home" in the same circumstances, means the same thing?

Yeah, the necromancers are all historical figures, so killing them removes the threat of necromancers showing up and animating everything on the map. However, the zombies will still show up regardless of whether or not their masters are gone.

On the plus side, they won't attack the wildlife. It's only the lower-case corpses (and body parts) that do that.

A necromancer once took out 40 dwarfs in 30 seconds for me. Watch out.
