So I decided to read all Sherlock Holmes (or at least until I get bored). But I'm not sure in which order to read them: the order they were written or the story's chronological order? To complicate matter, there is no official chronology, and argument as to the exact one.

What do you think?

Well, you could do what I did and read them in chronological order of writing, which would follow this sequence.

Someone went and compiled the chronological sequence of cases based on actual dates provided within the stories.

I don't really remember them having much relevance between the stories, though I suppose some of them would be related. I've got a compendium on my shelf if you'd like me to copy out the story order from that?

Yeah sure. And while they're not related, I kinda like the idea of reading them is some kind of order.

Vector: I don't know. I actually have no idea of the order Conan Doyle would have wanted us to read them in (if any) since he didn't exactly plan his whole saga beforehand.

That's how it organised in "The Illustrated Sherlock Holmes Treasury" anyway. It may be in print order, and I haven't checked whether it includes all of them, though I believe it does.

The order doesn't really matter, but they are some of my favorite books.
