Hah, I just knew it would happen. It was not a numeral, just a pronoun. I as in me. I had a copy of DI somewhere, I think, but I bought II.

Oh, I thought you referring to Disciples I as just Disciples. My bad. Yeah, definitely play #2. It's frieken fantastic. There are a few gripes I have [mostly aesthetic] but I love it all the same.

I had, years ago. I sucked horribly due to applying HoMM logic to it back then xD.

Well... yes. You can download almost everything for free*.

However, I think srcdest was referring to buying it from Good Old Games.

Not GOG, Greenmangaming (AKA GMG). It was also on Steam last time I've seen, though I ended up missing the sale so I bought it from GMG where they had the same sale in a couple of days.

Ah, OK. On GMG.

It's cheaper there, but not optimized for modern computers. I got burned on several steam sales that did the same thing - re-release it with no support. I foolishly thought if they put it out there, they checked that it would work with a modern computer.

Ha ha, nope. Refund? ha ha, nope!

So... I went ahead and played through today to day... 79 or so. It was... a bit daunting. I'm just saying that now so that I can properly remember how it felt. Luckily MOWE and Nerjin have managed to survive thus far.

Oh gee, disciples 2. It was a nice game and provided a fair few hours of entertainment while doin the campaigns. The banshee is actually a rather nice leader unit, especially after you get her a full party a good many missions into the future hehe.

I like to give her the artifact that grants her attack poison. And then the best armour boosting artifact for her other one.

Huh... Thought I had replied to this. Anyway, it does seem like a real good item to give her. I don't know if it actually shows up in the campaign [I try not to get spoilers for the campaign].

The MOWE Chronicles: Chapter 1
The Search for Timmoria: Part 3

The following is a journal low-ranking fighter from the Human realms. He was passed over for Knighthood after the death of his fiancé, MyOwnWorstEnemy, was killed during a raid by demons. He has finally been reuinited with MyOwnWorstEnemy, after ten long years. Having been granted the opportunity to be with her again he has gladly devoted himself to Mortis’ cause. He views the undead goddess not as one of death, but of love.

Day 20:

So I finally saw Cannon Fodder’s party today.

It was kinda odd that he travels with so many ghosts. It seemed more tactical than I would expect of him. I thought he’d have a Wyvern and a fighter. MOWE says it’s because he doesn’t want to be rushed by anyone so he relies on them to paralyze the opposition while he does all the damage.

Day 21:

More assassins!

Spoiler: More Assassins! (click to show/hide)

Still, myself with my powerful spear and MOWE’s more powerful spells they were no issue. Well other than some spear wounds and arrow… wounds? We’re not sure what to call the pain MOWE feels. She says it feels different than physical pain. It’s more like mental anguish. Still, the goblins rose again to be our underlings! Well, Mortis’ but still.

Day 22:

Cannon Fodder was sent out to dispatch of some thugs nearby in order to… I don’t really know why. I was told that he was to capture a nearby city. But still…

Well, why he’s doing that MOWE and I are heading to that nearby shop to pick up a few things.

Spoiler: Shopping Trips (click to show/hide)

Day 24:

A spell has been researched apparently.

And so MOWE and myself have headed out to defeat a few Empire refuges who are guarding some treasure.

Spoiler: Or not (click to show/hide)

Well we were supposed to…  I happened to accidently catch a halberd with my face. I don’t remember being dead. I don’t even remember the pain. I just remember a wonderful feeling. The feel of a small breeze on my brain.

Thankfully the life potion we had made it a little less of an issue than it could have been. MOWE’s insistence that we carry at least one when possible has been very helpful!

So after healing up we remembered the spell! Casting it on the reveling bastards

Spoiler: Cursed with Joy (click to show/hide)

Was probably something we should have done the first time around as it was super helpful. It was still close…

Spoiler: Drinking it in (click to show/hide)

Day 25:

This is hilarious. Apparently Cannon Fodder spent two whole days gloating that he had captured the city before he realized it didn’t have a well. No Well… That’s what tipped him off. After two days. Not the lack of walls, people, or anything else. No well. Oh well, he eventually did go for it.

Spoiler: Going the Distance (click to show/hide)

Still… He’s only started gloating even more now! He says he’s going to write a book… To get ‘inspiration’ he’s torn several pages from you journal. I doubt you feel it, being as thick as you are, but still… It was really annoying.

Day 28:

Three days of idleness… BUT our scouts say that they have seen a few people approaching! Archangels! I wanted to go get them…

Spoiler: The Enemy (click to show/hide)

Seems easy enough…

Spoiler: Then again (click to show/hide)
Then again perhaps not…

Though Cannon Fodder did set out to fight the Knights. Hope it works….

Day 30:

I’m still pissed about Cannon Fodder’s apparent eagerness to rip my things to shreds. Still, MOWE seems to think we shouldn’t worry too much about him anymore. While we await the eventual attack of the three Pegasus knights she spotted on the horizon. I don’t know why she’s so excited. Yes, he went out to fight the weaker of the two but he took three ghosts. What are the odds that he could lose?

Well either way me and my love shall go chase of an angel who is leeching our gold.

Day 31:

The Archangel got away! She will feel Mortis’ wrath eventually I suppose but it’s still a little embarrassing. Never-the-less it was that squire’s fault. He managed to stop me long enough for his master to get away! We could pursue her but…

Spoiler: Could Pursue (click to show/hide)

Mortis has ordered MyOwnWorstEnemy back to the capital. I can’t say I’m surprised. We can handle Archangels no problem. A squad of knights with a priest? Not so much.

Day 32:

Ugh… That city, Frenien, that Cannon Fodder had captured has been stolen from us by the Empire.

Spoiler: Frenien (click to show/hide)

After all that work, listening to him gloating constantly about how much more important he was than us,

Never-the-less that Pegasus Knight has moved into Frenien so…

Spoiler: Win Some Lose Some (click to show/hide)

I guess you win some and you lose some. We win some, they lose some. Ha! I’m clever!

It is obvious that some time has passed between entries

Well damn, Cannon Fodder not only survived, barely, but he’s coming to us for some of our life potions. I suppose we could. Yeah, why not? He’s annoying but he’s a devoted servant of Mortis.

Day 33:

Thieves… I bloody hate thieves. Thankfully, so does MyOwnWorstEnemy!

MOWE’s soul quota is coming along. She tells me that if she gets enough powerful souls Mortis will grant he greater leadership over her armies. Though I’m not really happy about more people hanging around while I whisper sweet nothings to her I am glad that there will be more people to protect my love. It will all be worth it eventually!

Day 24:

Whoops, Oh no! Such sorrow! HAHA! Cannon Fodder is dead! FOREVER! I think? That Pegasus Knight defeated him last night. I’m sure it was a fun fight. One ghost fighting three knights and a priest.

Spoiler: Living up to His Name (click to show/hide)

Thankfully, this guy seems willing to talk. Maybe because he saw that I was human.

Spoiler: Knight Thurin Says (click to show/hide)

MOWE trusted me to talk to him briefly. I replied thusly “Be that as it may, we only want your library. We outnumber you and with each kill we make our armies grow stronger. Your forces here are small.”

Spoiler: He Replied (click to show/hide)

Well… That’s no good…. Still, we’ve met a new Undead Lord. Apparently she [?] is the famous Lich Queen Neku! I remember hearing tales of her as a child. It was… odd to meet her in person. She spoke only to MyOwnWorstEnemy though. I’ve transcribed the conversation below as well as I could.

Spoiler: The Conversation (click to show/hide)

I do not know how the battle went. I assume that it did not go as well as we’d have hoped.

Spoiler: The Battles (click to show/hide)

So dies Neku the Lich Queen. I’m… rather underwhelmed. For such a big name Lich Queen she went down faster than a goblin against a frost giant. If she dies this quickly, how did she ever become so feared? Good publicity I would assume. MOWE seemed rather bemused about the situation. I wonder if she knows something I don’t?

Day 35:

Our spy has finally been caught. Executed. Thankfully he was one of the living recruits so now we have another soldier. Foolish Empire. But now we cannot know the movement of enemy troops.

Spoiler: Spy Hard (click to show/hide)

Then again, we always have more spies. I think?

Day 36:

I spent the day simply speaking with MOWE about the Capital building. I asked her why Mortis is having us, a rather meager pair truth be told, deal with such an important task. I feel like I might have asked before but I did ask “Why not just mob the place with her most powerful troops?”

Apparently Mortis went into a sort of slumber after the first Great War. Her power waned during that time and the Empire researched several warding spells. Thankfully the wards aren’t all encompassing. We’re low enough power that we do not trigger the wards. So since only weak undead [and Neku apparently though I’m still sure that the two aren’t mutually exclusive] can assail the library Mortis is using us as a covert strike force. Hm… Seems to be a good thing I suppose. Still, I hope Mortis’ power returns soon. I don’t want to be worried about MOWE constantly. I know that if she dies again, she’s likely gone for good.

Day 37:

Nothing to report journal. Although I have seen an… odd fellow walking around. He is apparently an initiate into an odd Death Cult that believes they can become vampires by worshipping Mortis. I didn’t catch his name, but he is certainly odd. He came to me and asked if I had a moment to spare for Mortis. I figured the fact that I was talking with a Banshee almost every second of every day since I arrived would be answer enough but apparently not. Almost as if he didn’t care for the answer he started quoting a book at me. “Mortis teaches us that by feeding the souls of non-believers to her we can increase our own power so that we can feed her even MORE souls! So long as we continue feeding her souls she will eventually give us the gift of Vampirism!”

Which is odd, as I’d always though you just had to get bitten. I discussed this with Lord Edward the Nosferat while MOWE was attending to other matters. He laughed.

“He wants to be an abomination. Him and his cult. Fools! Why would anyone want to be this?” He gestured to his body. In the moonlight he glistened like diamonds.

“Uh… Teenagers?” Was my only response. He seemed to be annoyed that I had said that as he walked away. It’s only now that I write this down that I realize that I never really got an answer to my question.

Day 38:

Huh, this is odd…

Spoiler: Odd (click to show/hide)

Is the Empire learning? Emulating myself and MOWE to better protect their rod planters? Are they plagued

Spoiler: Pun incoming (click to show/hide)

With thoughts of attacking the capital? Are they dead

Spoiler: Pun II: Pun Harder (click to show/hide)

Tired from all the travelling? I don’t really know. But me and MOWE have handled the problem for them. We’re such nice enemies of the Empire.

Day 40:

Oh dear… Lord Edward stopped by today. He was dark and brooding as always and yet… Incredibly attractive despite being a totally controlling bastard the whole time. He told us of a growing problem… Or rather a shrinking one. Our resources are starting to dwindle and we can’t sustin them at this rate. The Empire on the other hand is having no problems. He laid it out for us in no uncertain terms [after his usual bemoaning being a powerful vampire…] that our resource growth

Spoiler: Is not very good… (click to show/hide)

So I guess myself and MOWE must be off journal. I will write in you tonight about what we can do with the shrinking amount of resources. Goodbye for now Journal.

I don't remember if it is available in the campaign either. It has been quite a few years since I've played it and I'm too lazy to reinstall the game to check and you did say no spoilers. But the undead rod planter is one of the few toons that can solo a full power capital guardian with the right setup, that poison artifact being one of the requirements. Granted it is a slllloooooooowwwww fight at 20 hp a turn, and a guardian has 900 hp.

Anyways, do continue and good luck. Rod planter runs through the campaign were some of my favorites due to the different abilities they usually had.
