Probably solid rock. Dolimite maybe?

Everything is made from Dolomite.

Masterwork has a block painting workshop, doesn't it? It's plausible that in this universe that dwarves figured out the art of decorating goods with things other than gems.

Eh, to be honest, I prefer marble items aesthetically, but given dolomite is sedimentary and can be found more often as an upper layer, and therefore a residential layer, I tend to have a preference for dolomite.

True. Whether or not it's magmasafe, I like pitchblende for it's purple and it's radioactivity.

Edit: Bauxite doesn't show blood, so both are good in terms of camouflaging fluids.

Microcline is the devil's stone. Along with orthoclase. I always forbid and hide rocks from it as soon as they are dug.

While I've loved the story up to this point, this panel reminds me of one of those "and this is the path they took" cartoons. Kinda surprised the path was actually relatively straight and practical. ;)

I've shared this with my buddy who also plays DF.

I like pitchblende for uranium warhammers and Urist Mcradioactivearmor.

But dolomite is still the divine stone.

Y'know, Orthoclase actually looks pretty cool in real life. When polished, it looks like a beige/mauve marbley thing with black stripes.
