And this:
>They are all lizards who start with leer
>They are an elemental trio
>Charmander was in Pokémon Red, Feralgatr was in Pokémon Crystal (blue), and Treecko would be in Pokémon Emerald (Green)

Helix is dead. Long live the Helix. So on and so forth.

We're playing Mother 3 right now. Our favourite food is, obviously, alphabet spaghetti.

I'm sorry but this Mother 3 playthrough is hilarious so far. I want this to continue.

For starter chat,
Mudkip kinda trivializes the electric gym, assuming it's evolved by that point.

Additionally, against Team Magma/Aqua, bear in mind that a lot of them have Zubat/Golbat, which tend to give Treecko lots of problems.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Another fire starter would probably get released...like abby, lasergater on the otherhand proved that water starter is good, so lets see what happened with a grass starter aka Treecko?

I am using a Sceptile competitively and successfully, treecko is definately not garbage.

...Unless it isn't trained properly, then it's KING garbage. And considering TPP's complete incapability of properly training a poke, I vote mudkip.  I heard people like them or something like that.

(and also in X and Y randoms I keep coming across people using the TPP teams, if they go for mudkip that's one more thing for my Sceptile to solar beam/grass pledge into vapor.)

Treecko is most certainly out for TPP, we can't rely on such advanced things as 'well trained pokemon'. We have the nuker starter (or starter-replacement) with overleveling (subject to horrible failure in the face of high resistance, for ex. Pokemon Tower), the Pidgeot of reference (since we've always ended up holding onto a pidgey in both teams, box whims notwithstanding), the Surfer (sometimes combined with the first mon in this list), and 3 or 4 other pokemon of less predictable nature.

I wouldn't be against mudkip, but I still favor the fire starter because I always have, dangit.

and for the electric gym, I point to Mudkip's horrid non-hm/tm moveset. Along with self-destruct. Really, I should have made a spectrum to describe trivializing incoming damage but not output. I tried to account for TPP weaknesses.

and yeah, Treecko only thing really going for it is that it's incredibly good for the Champion. But at that point you can trivialize with any obtained mons, so I chose to leave that out. Though Leaf Blade Spam is incredibly fun.

Also, go Treecko, as the coolest of the Gen3 starters.

I think we are all forgetting that we wont exactly have a choice on what is picked, just what is hoped to be picked.
