New Sub-Board
« on: February 05, 2014, 09:01:39 pm »

I'm experimenting with this.  It's hard to say how it'll turn out, if the modding board is any indication.  At the same time, I didn't really see a clear way forward on a general sub-board.  We made the RtD board originally to stop forum games from being crowded out, and that's the same idea here.  We'll see how it goes.

Thank you, Toady. Let's hope for the best and see how much this new sub-board benefits the RtD forums.
Cheers,
Artemis

Indeed. Also, I'm glad to have gotten the first two posts in the new subboard.

If I could justify it, I'd try getting the first four, in all the threads, but that would be just silly.

Since when have you ever waited for justification to post?  :P

Woah. Now, it may not have been intended as a reward, but damned if it doesn't give every GM something to aspire to. If only it was possible for mere humans to match piecewise's efforts.

I do believe his bio says he lives in a bunker in Alaska. So, there's that.

Also, thank you Toady. It must have taken a good deal of consideration, because of the spat on the modding forum.

Out of curiosity, what did happen on the modding forum? I congratulate piecewise on managing to get this done without fuss, but I'm considering returning to modding and would like to know what happened so I don't get shunned on it.

Separate boards for Masterwork DF, other mod releases, utilities, and tilesets were created, so that the main area could be used specifically for questions.  Masterwork got its own board because of how large it had gotten, having reached dozens of topics nearly as soon as it's sub-board was opened.

I was thinking of making the suggestion of there being two additional sub-boards for Roll to Dodge, Minimalist and Nonminimalist, but I am fairly certain that would take away nearly all threads created in the main roll to dodge board.

Thank you very much, Toady. Things are already looking bright now since piecewise can create any number of needed threads without worry.

Well duh. Those two categories, by definition, are every RtD. You might consider suggesting a minimalist board, if you feel up to the task of finding every minimalist RtD ever.

Eh, I doubt it would be worth the hassle to split the minimalists off into their own board, particularly given the... subjective definition of "minimalist." It would be more productive for nonminimalists to advertise as such in the title of the thread, in much the same way that Suggestion Games on FG&R frequently throw an (ISG) or (TSG) in the header (making nonminimalists... NMG?)

I refuse to believe there are more minimalists than not. Let them wear the badge of shame and put 'minimalist' in their title. The rest of us will carry on as usual.

I doubt there's much point. You can usually easily differentiate a minimalist game from any alternatives by the title anyway.
