Try again. This time, empty our brain of thoughts, focus on the flame, and embrace the fiery hotness instead of fleeing from it. Record our experiences in our journal.

Write down Ember notes. Then, use Ember on Flimsy Wooden Desk.
You don't want to burn the furniture that you built yourself.

Do you want to burn down our little hut?
Check out what we put in that chest
You step into the hut from where you stood in the doorway and open the chest. There's a shoulder pouch, a paring knife, and an herb tea remedy. The herb tea remedy can heal light wounds almost instantly, but the leaves must be boiled for the concoction to have any affect. You take all of these things and close the chest.

Try again. This time, empty our brain of thoughts, focus on the flame, and embrace the fiery hotness instead of fleeing from it. Record our experiences in our journal.
You head outside into the crisp, cool morning air. The silence of the forest envelops you, and not even the birds are awake at this hour. You close your eyes and concentrate on that white mote of light once more, but instead of pushing the heat away, you attempt to draw it into you. It draws closer and closer to the center of your being, represented by a shadowy outline. The heat grows and grows, then suddenly explodes as it touches the edge of the outline. You gasp as the heat sears your mind and you recoil, crumpling to the ground. You spend a few minutes on your knees, cradling your throbbing head. Eventually the pain begins to fade and you start to regain your feet. You still feel a bit wobbly, but you manage to scribble a few notes. Entry: Heart of the Flame

Pyromancy
After years of meditation and training myself to focus my will, I've finally managed to create something. Who knew this feeling could be so satisfying? And yet.. I'm not sure how I did it. It was lucid, and at the same time so incorporeal.

Spark
I remember picturing my will and concentrating it into a single point. This tiny white mote.. like light through a pinhole.. and it was so hot! I panicked, tried to escape. Like an animal I had to get away from this searing pain that was trapped inside me. As I moved away, it leapt out! And suddenly all I felt was.. Cool.. And that was when I lost my focus. Why did I choose to think of home at that particular moment? I never want to remember what happened there again. Ever..

Heart of the Flame
I pictured the mote of light again, but this time instead of running I tried drawing it in. Naturally I was burned (after a brief physical examination I confirmed that this experience was purely mental). The closer you are to the heart of a fire, the hotter it becomes. I should have known better, but then how could I resist? I think I need to learn a bit more about controlling the flame outside me before trying this again.

Find something flammable, like a stick. Attempt to light the tip of the stick on fire using our magical sparks. Then attempt to manipulate the flame on that stick.

sharpen a stick with your knife. Then apply fire hardening with your new found powers to dry the wood, but not burn it. (The first step to mastery is control. Once we have control we can work on endurance. Once we have endurance we can work on power.)

Enjoy a moment of satisfction at the outcome of our experimentation. Reflect on our surroundings and our neighbors, human and animal. Consider nearby threats. Take a casual stroll through the woods.

Light a small fire outside the hut and begin to concentrate on the fire. As you concentrate you begin to imagine a mouth within the flame. Begin whispering to the flame by greeting it with a friendly: ''Greetings fledgling, I am Eily Dóiteán whisperer of the flame.''

You need to come to some sort of consensus.

((Its fine for there to be more than one action in a turn, but not if you're experimenting or trying to go somewhere.))

You kick around in the tall grass around your hut until you find a fallen branch. Its about the length of your leg from ankle to hip. You take your paring knife and amputate the twigs and shave off all the bark, then whittle at the end until its carved into a fine point. You summon your will and concentrate until you've got a small flame, like a candle's, then run the branch through it until its blackened all over. It takes all of your focus to do this, the flame sputtering anytime your mind wandered, and by the time you're finished your brow is covered in sweat. You did a decent job and when you're done you've got a decent spear. It lacks heft, but if the branch were larger it would've taken you hours to finish. You're a bit more tired now, but you feel your control has increased.

Rest. Then create The Spark but don't push it away or pull it toward you, keep it in equilibrium for as long as possible.

When you pull it in, the heat burns you, and if you push it away it goes out. Keeping the flame in equilibrium maintains the flame.

You're not sure how that makes sense.

Start a small fire like Mal said "on a stick" then try to see if we can communicate mentally with it.
