I was referring to Sir Jackson the second.

It's a shame they didn't just ask Jason to go check out the orgyverse and sent a probe with him to record. Then if the women were suddenly made of flaming metal, he could have noped the fuck out of there. If they turned hostile, he might have survived long enough and had enough firepower to destroy them. And if neither of those happened, you could have had a monopoly on extradimensional pornos.

Yay, a thread's named after me again! :D

Yeah, but we're (mostly) sane and not teamkilling.

Also yeah, that whole orgyverse murder seemed a bit... out of nowhere.
Funny--OutOfNowhere is the name I use for Tribes: Ascend.
Saint did it because it kills two birds with one stone, or twenty women with a machine gun, as the case may be.  He wanted to know if they were illusory or something, and if they weren't, he needed to know if they could be killed.  We don't want to colonize a universe where the inhabitants are capable of fighting back against us, do we?

Also, Saint's a sociopath.

I clearly need to step up my game.

Maybe. If I can get past my current attitude of chill.

I like to think that Xan has died enough times that he doesn't really care anymore.

He doesn't. His level of giving-a-fuck about what other people do decreased each time he died until now, where he's just sorta doing his own thing. Hell, I'm not even on the mission for any other reason than the alternative is waiting on Heph for several IRL months and I want to do something mildly exciting in the meantime.

if the orgyverse isn't too dangerous, may I volunteer to be the first explorer?

Syv is scaring me!

Why?  I'm treating this pretty much the same way I treat all potentially dangerous anomalous things.  Does the fact that this anomaly happens to be alive and in a shape you are psychologically conditioned and designed to empathize with really make the situation so different?  Do you not think that I'm actually being remarkably humane to the women, despite the fact that their form indicates that they are almost certainly intended to be a weapon?  After all, I'm specifically avoiding invasive surgery, though implanting neotherm inside them would likely make them significantly less dangerous.[/Saint]

Don't worry, I'm just a good roleplayer!  Hehehe.

Sure, but you almost certainly won't get that honor, if only because other people will go first due to your current position.

Not sure how Gus would feel about that. On the one hand, there's the distinct possibility that this place is a trap. On the other, well... it's a big fluffy cave full of naked women, and Gus has the self control of a six year old.

Actually, on that note, can you please stop burning bridges* the instant we meet something new? I understand that about... None of the things we have ever met in a mission that wasn't a human hadn't been immediately hostile, but at this point we're kinda invading other people's houses, it would be rude to set fire to their curtains to test the reactions.

why not share the experience? And if it is a trap, well we can help each other escape.

Well, it's not really a priority.  To Saint, relationships with other civilizations are universally dangerous or pointless; for them to be beneficial, we have to take risks that they could learn to understand our universe-transferring tech, which means they run the risk of gaining enough knowledge to hunt humans (read: Saint) down and kill them.  So, basically, if we can't effectively fight a civilization (meaning they run very little risk of ever harming us), then we should just cut off all connection with them--we should burn the bridge, so to speak.  Hence, if there's another intelligence, it is in our best interest to shoot it first, then see if we can communicate.

It does occur to me that merely sending a probe somewhere runs the risk of the tag being reverse-engineered.  Hmm.  I need to figure out a way to reliably destroy the tags if they are captured and disabled...
