I'd say exo would be the thing throwing itself. I mean, if you miss in the game, it matters, it doesn't magically murder a bunch of soldiers just on the basis of your psychic ability.

It's because you were trying to throw it from too far for it to reach via simple strength alone. The exo kicks in whenever you try to do things with it that are outside the realm of human ability because it is the glaive itself acting.

So for con usage, is it any better than a massive 3-bladed knife? Does the exo boost bleed into the con use, or is it thrown with either exo or con, using just alien tech or just the throw strength?

For uncon it's either a pretty ok melee weapon or a pretty ok thrown weapon. The positives to Exo use of it is that you can throw it over massive distances and it homes in on things. it goes from bladed boomerang to psychically targeted, heat seeking flying starfish made of knives.

It doesn't hate humanity, I just got confused. At short distance it still might be worth using since it will automatically return.
