I have an answer, and it's - n-n-n~n - it's weird.
...and it allowed it straight into the mind of somebody who was apparently extremely receptive of it!
This is fucking Tinkering, sy, you asshole! You're trying to get me to do Tinkering in a fucking ER Talk! ...You munchkin bastard!
N-no, not doing that. Bad sy! Bad sy!
That place is go~ne! ... The billions and billions of people are go~ne!
"How's Jim doing?" Still dead.
Okay, for the record: Mad Hatter
wasn't about randomization by itself. It was about recreating the things approximately, so that the mind could grasp the picture without being influenced by its xenomagical content. "Randomization" was a field hack that was introduced (not even by Maurice, I think) to gauge the best Mad Hatter level available through quickly switching the approximation levels. And it
wasn't even in the
original action that summoned the Lurker to use such quick switching. It wasn't even in the action to use Mad Hatter distortion at all (just the mapping functions), to think of it! But - I guess it was, after a fashion, very IC for him, so I don't really blame the GM for choosing this destiny for Maurice.
So - with pride (and damnation), I fully accept the blame on my character fucking up the universe. It wasn't a dice roll, or a whim of fate - it was a direct result of his planning, of his preparation, of his doing. Way to go, Dr. Sanctor. Way to make history.
Also, woo hoo, "not looking at the dome and walking backwards"!
And - I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! Steve is really a good guy (who has the bests interests of humanity at heart), Word-of-Piecewise! Take that, cynics and pessimists!
