how many fresh outta the tube newbies we got floating around on ship?
Two or more.

More like six. Seven, if HFS qualifies.

((But that isn't the only factor, apart from KSP physics not being the closest to reality, think about the ship itself, where would it have to be for the guns to line up? If the guns are portside, it would have to be vertical if and only if there was one gun on the very end of the portside, if there were some on the front, you better hope they're gonna be bottom mounted, otherwise there is no way one's gonna get in there.
And even if the stars do align, an inch of difference means it impacts the wall and not go through the hole, making the entire exercise useless.))

((You know that in space, ships can rotate to point in any direction?

The actual problem with the plan is that the ship has to actually get into the correct orbit to drop it's payload, which could take like an hour if they weren't already prepped for orbital bombardment))
((If they are able to alter the course of the payload post launch then it would be far easier so what about just dropship nuclear bombardment?))
So with dropship bombardment, that thing is going at ludicrous speeds, and would require at least a turn of 45 degrees, at max, 90, you can't do that with manoeuvring (Is that how you spell it?) rockets.

And yes, the ship can point in any direction, but, and this is a big but, they would have to point the cannons in space, to fire near perfectly parallel along the planet, that is constantly spinning and moving in a circle, fire it and keep it totally steady through re-entry and the entire flight while said giant bullet is moving at speeds a high speed camera can only catch a frame of, then perfectly hit the hole in the shield.

or they could fire a bigass lesho rifle shell straight down a few kilometres or so in front of the dome and have it adjust its trajectory so that it curves upward and ends up flying straight through the hole on a lateral trajectory with 80-90% of its straight fall impact force.

doesnt need to be seventy tonnes of steel, just a megaton or so nuclear round.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

What rockets can budge that shot enough to prevent a millimetre of difference flipping it end over end?
Wait, would that actually happen? Probably not, now that I think about it.
Whatever, even if it doesn't, my point still stands, that kind of shot could probably clear the length of the planet in a minute or so, that thing budges even a tiny bit, it hits the space magic wall or nothing at all, rockets or no.

I think you still need to aim with a LESHO, buddy, there's always something called a turning circle.
Alternatively, lasers?
Lasers?
Mmm, could work, but I guess it depends on how it interacts with the field, there's only so much of an angle you can fire that laser at and still clear the hole, so hopefully the hole is where we can hit the spess god directly.

lesho rifle description:
take a railgun, modify it for extreme accuracy, fit it to fire a quarter kiloton shell,    fit that shell with miniature maneuvering rockets and a computer to control them. Then link    that computer to a targeting system in the railgun so that it can guide that hypersonic chunk of    metal to a target a mile and a half away within a 2 inch margin of error. That's the LESHO Rifle.

2 inch margin of error on the man portable version.
somehow I think the ship mounted versions would be a lot more advanced.

ARSTEVE stated the accuracy of the Hammer of Hephaestus when they were dealing with the Fleshhorror. You could probably look it up if you wanted.

But you still have to aim, you can't make a 90 degree turn with a bullet! And the two inch margin is supposed to be for what you're aiming at, not for literally firing in any direction! You are not space Revolver Ocelot!

so you are telling me, that withe all the futuretech at our disposal... we cant strap wings to a nuclear missile, fire it from orbit, and have it perform a 90 degree turn over the course of several kilometres to guide itself into a hotzone?

you sir, have a train of thought that defies my comprehension.
