Killing Thad doesn't free you - the new body - from the debt, by the way. If he dies then it's your fault, so you bite the bullet.

How large was the debt again, in tokens?

I read through a lot on the wiki, but I don't really know what stats are generally consider the best. I also have no idea what the best things to buy at the start of the game. Or how you earn tokens.

And could someone also explain when I am supposed to use the red green and bold text. that they use in the missions all the time?

Bold text are the actions you wish to execute. Colored text has no significance, it's just the color someone wants to assign their character's speech and thoughts.

Stats depend on what sort of role you want your character to fill.

"What stats are best" is only a question you need answered if you're planning to powergame instead of just having fun. :P
But usually, some extra Dex and End are best to ensure better chances of survival, and a higher Mind will allow to resist some of the mindfuck that tends to happen around the ex-HMRC members. Having less than 0 End is very much not recommended, and a lot of equipment tends to have Str 0 as a requirement as well. Overall, the "safest" startup is probably+1s in End and Mind, and -1s in Cha and Fate, despite the latter's mystical qualities.

As far as skills, you basically need to know what you want to do. Having less than 0 Gen.Know is not recommended since you never know when it might pop up, but otherwise you just need to decide on a role and add/deduct points depending on that.

And colored text is just "accents". A visual aid to quickly recognize when a specific person is speaking. Limegreen text is typically Steve's, often prefaced with a > to show that he's communicating by radio. (Anton also has that color text, but is speaking exclusively in "enquoted italics")

And ninja'd.

Bold text is your actions; use it for only those things that require GM input, and make sure to edit them all in a single post (Piecewise uses only one post with bolded text as your action, usually the first) or at least strike-through the earlier actions you posted in the turn (and aggregate the actual action in the new post).

Usually, colored text is reserved for your speech (for example, Steve speaks in lime green), you can decide on whatever font/color/etc. combination you'd like, but people might note if you "sound" like someone else.  ;)

In general, skills can be fairly specialised towards what you want your character do, and then more or less ignore the rest of the skills. As said in the New Player's Guide, having at least one "weapon" skill (such as Con, Uncon or Exo, depending on weapon of choice) is recommended, but by no means necessary if you don't mind playing a pacifist character (which can be pretty cool at times, but very, very troubling at others).

As for stats, the general suggestion is to leave them as balanced and not dumped as possible, because they get rolled occasionally, and you don't want to die on a 1 out of 6 roll because of your -2 stat (though, again, it can make for entertaining character). The most useful stats are, in no particular order: Mind (more if you're an amper, less but still very important against mindfuck otherwise), End(urance) (your chances of surviving damage; there are times when having a certain End is prerequisite to getting a roll to survive at all), Dex(terity) (dodging and generally avoiding damage altogether, where applicable; plus useful for melee speed and accuracy) and, possibly, Fate (GM intentionally left this stat nondescript to fuck with us, but it is rumored to help you 'avoid' harm when said harm is picking between you and the person next to you). Str and Cha are much more niche, but still useful on occasion.

Ninja'd'd!

That's just helping the wiki gnomes know that they need to update the wiki.

Weapons are designed by paying $2.99 for 10 steamy minutes of armor penetration using the VR machine's Tinker program. It has its own thread.

When PW says "wiki" he's basically telling to wiki gnomes (me, Paris, swordsmith04, NAV and few others) to update person's character sheet in wiki.

To tinker you first go into VR machines in on ship thread and then post your designs into Tinker thread.

"Wiki" is a codeword/command phrase to tell the resident wiki gnomes to append the transaction to the Wiki. Basically just a shorter way of saying "Okay that works, somebody update his character sheet on the wiki."

In case you need to know what/where the wiki is, the first post in this thread has a link.

And the character seems alright. Only thing to look out for is that -1 strength - since you're putting a point into Conventional weapons, I assume you're planning to carry deathtubes around. Bear in mind that many of the more effective deathtubes require a strength of 0 to use, be it because of weight (i.e. Spektr) or recoil (i.e. Gauss Rifle).
