Depends how much the maggots have digested the human flesh. If there is human meat in the maggot's digestive system, then it's cannibalism. If the human flesh is fully digested and incorporated into the maggot's body, then it's not cannibalism. Just my opinion.

So if you clean the maggots properly, it's not, but if you go for that raw crunchiness with that extra tang, it is?  Seems legit.

Well, a piece of matter can't be both maggot and human meat (unless the Doctor's involved), therefor the moment it becomes maggot meat it is no longer human meat.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

If you go as far as 'reusing atoms', everything has people in it.

I'm sad I missed the ritual sacrifice discussion. I wanted to ask if sacrificing people to the Shackle would give me more charges. Also, I wonder if the bio weapon in M18 is actually a chamber that turns an organic being into an "Eater of Cold". I would totally volunteer for that. Probably. Maybe. Depending on what I get from Nyars. Then I could be like "I am the Dessicatuh. Get to the choppa!"

Looks like I'll be going on M18, if anywhere at all.

This conversation pleases me and I am sad that it is mostly over.

Well, just because there's nothing in there doesn't mean it wasn't affected. Apple trees growing in raw sugar will produce different-tasting apples than apple trees growing in quartz sand, for instance, so there might still be room to savor the delicious flavor of organic corpse-apples.

Aww, I missed the sacrifice talk!
Well, I'll be able to address it with my Haephestus clone.

((Umm, I have read the messages about how novices should avoid mission 17, so now I am worried. Is it possible to re-volunteer for another mission?))

Miya got the newbies some shiny new MkIII suits. I think that as long as the newbies don't screw up in whatever may happen, your lack of decent equipment and experience can be partially corrected by that. That and your team got some heavy hitters on it already.

Hey, anybody got any opinion on whether or not I should buy a Neural Connector Psychokinetic Amplifier or keep saving money for a 20 Token conventional decompensator?

I'd go for the decomp. It'd mean you can wield high-power deathtubes with impunity without fear of killing everything ever while doing it. And that way you can fill your own little niche.

Talking about Heph, have people forgotten you have a prisoner awaiting perma-kill/punishment that allows him to live on and lets the GM screw with you in the future?

Yeah, someone should get on that.

About Leo:  I don't know about the other Hephaestians, but my reasons for not interrogating Leo are due to a distinct lack of mind reading amps.  I doubt it's easy to tell whether he was just temporarily MC'd, more permanently altered, or acting on his own initiative.  And if it's anything but the first, we'd need an amp to fix him.

Although, considering how long we've had him locked up with no social interaction, we'd probably need an amp to 'fix' him regardless.  About the only reason we wouldn't kill him is possible information, and even then I doubt there's anything we really care about.

So yeah.  Probably sod execution squad for him.  Alternatively, giving him an amp/decomps and putting him into a possessed robobody, and then surrounding him with a fake reality, only popping enemies into his reality when the body needs to amp something.

I'm reading through Mission 6 again. I find this particularly hilarious:

Open a channel to Steve:

What all kind of samples are the lab boys going to want, assuming that's part of why we're here?

>Anything that looks interesting really. Hell, anything really. Just don't go grabbing 50 pounds of sand.

>Maurice: The research crew thank you for your thoroughness but also inform you that they, and I'm quoting, "Don't need so many fucking jars of fucking living sand."

Isn't Leo stasis'd or something? Because that would have probably been a convenient way of storing him without wasting additional resources to guarding him, feeding him and so on. Plus, isn't it something like objective time decades that have passed for Hephaestians for now? Were he not stasis'd, he could probably die of old age by now.
Also, don't you have like a full-fledged psychiatrist on the team? Even without amps he might be onto something as long as the (supposed) mind controller didn't do absolute perfect job on Leo, and that would be highly unlikely.
Moreover, it appears no one have yet tried the most basic approach: just asking him why he did that. You know, as straightforward and dumb it is, it might actually work. Or at least give valuable insight on how to conduct the further interrogation.

@RC You missed Maurice's proposition. Or did you on purpose, perhaps?
Also, is the 22/09 deadline when we can finally start preparing the equipment and all, or when we should have already prepared everything and are completely ready for the mission start?

@AoshimaMichio And that's Steve not quoting "metric fuckton of sample jars filled with thin air" ;)
