Jel is officially awesome. :))
I'm curious to know just when that scenario in the LIMBO thread is set in relation to the present-day ARM, but that would spoil some of the mystery so meh. Fascinating stuff, anyway.

((I suddenly had an idea. This basement reminds me of something we've encountered before. Let's see if my hunch is right.))

Thinking about that underground vault with eldritch amp-making material?

No, that doesn't really fit. That was more mundane, this is more "magical". I'm reminded of some of the anomalies we faced on mission 9 and that made me think that how we enter the basement might be important. I've got some crazy theories but the craziest is that there is no basement under the diner. The basement is in fact somewhere else and crossing the blackness simply teleports you there.

I've also got some tests to run on that hole in the building if I get some time.

I was thinking of asking Lars if he wanted to practice mind control with me. He gets practice using it, and I hopefully get practice resisting it.

@Sean: Why waste time inspecting and fixing the damage manually when you can just send your repair drones to do it for you? You could even design some kind of larger mobile repair mothership/carrier while you're at it. Something that holds drones and spare parts and can maybe tow a large vehicle (or even larger with some help from others of its kind). Then add some primitive health tools in the drone (like half an emergency kit) and some more and better health tools (like replacement limbs\organs) in the repair carrier itself (where the drones will bring those too heavily injured) and you got a very good mobile fleshtech platform. Not as multipurpose or as good in the frontlines as a fleshtech sod, since it's a larger target that can't shoot back, but it should be way more efficient, especially if you keep them off the frontlines and give them the capability to assemble new drones. Unless of course sods are so good at their job and so cheap there's no profit or benefit in setting up production lines for specialized repair units.

And may I state my opinion once again that if you're doing your job right, then the exact number of troops you have won't matter, because you'll have millions with thousands more produced each day.

Paris, two things.

1. You have badly broken stuff, that's what you need people for.

2. The party wagon was crewed.  Use them, don't wait weeks before fixing it.

1.Robots are quick
while the flesh is weak.

2.The vehicle wasn't crewed
else the pilot would be screwed.

3.The repair drones await,
down in the tunnels' borders.
Broken things use for bait,
and attract them with orders
They are ready to work,
they repair things quite quickly.
The other things that I wrote?
A suggestion made meekly.

Also, that Keloid film reminds me of the HMRC quite a bit when I think of it, except we're usually better armed than the humans shown.

I'm assuming the Red March mentioned was the Altered Wars, which is said to have happened where a solider from there would be "older than your grandfather" so I'd say ballpark 100 years later.  I forget how long ago the Altered Wars were, though, but... 1000 years before current time, in objective time?

This sounds like !!Fun!!

Too bad Stacy didn't live to see if Lars could peel back the curtains of his mind wipe!

Because Anton likes to work with his own hands. Plus, the Party Wagon is his only project right now, and it's hurt. :P

Congratulations, you've pretty much described the R2 variant of the Artee. ;D
Of course it's smaller, about the size of a Sod, and can't quite carry a fleet of repair drones, much less produce new ones, but it can act as a supply pad for one, carries medical and repair supplies, and is trained in medical and mechanical repair both.

About that. How many active Sods can Hephaestus even support? Do we have the facilities to put a million Sods into stasis until they're needed? Even with the reduced upkeep of robot bodies and the size of the current facilities, how long until we have to build whole new factories, just cranking out daily rations for the army of troops we have sitting around until they're due to be shipped somewhere?
