She's wearing the armor that allows her to phase and people with robotic bodies don't need clothes. Either gravity doesn't affect her, or it somehow prevents that.

Step 5: Xan is running around engulfed in green fire and the Thundertron lies in a disassembled heap, because phase suit, grenade launcher, and mad mechanic skills.

Step 5 wouldnt happen if step 1 were completed properly.
If you either tie the cable to her by putting it under the suit then it will phase with her if the suit goes on autopilot, but honestly if you were planning on lynching an unconscious Simus youd loot the suit before proceeding to step 2.

Also Xan probably wouldnt give a shit about the fire and can put himself out, the grenade launcher wouldnt do as much damage as the fuel tank explosion (which dealt only minor damage despite flinging car sized shrapnel) and im pretty sure a +2/3 to handiwork isnt gonna help you stop a mech that is actively running around trying to pull your legs off.

And the thundertron has angular plate designed to deflect hypersonic projectiles, a grenade is simply gonna ricochet off and if it detonates the blast will simply flow along the armor with no force behind it.

ClF or no, grenades are only gonna damage the exterior plating which happens to be fashioned from recycled ship hulls, hulls capable of surviving atmospheric re-entry.

I dunno, Xan can alter his form at will. He could probably just fireproof himself and drop any damaged parts.
