As someone who has played wizards and similar classes in a number of RPGs you'd be surprised how far Plan C (Scream like a little girl, kick them between the legs and run like hell) will get you sometimes, the trick is to know precise *when* to apply it: I usually recommend around about the mission briefing

We'll have a mass of Sod troopers on our side, presumably without lifelocked equipment. Just wait till one of them gets killed and snag their gun.

A +4 would just mean you'd win so hard you fail, for 5/6ths of the time. I'd rather get a one then a ten.

Perfect decomp means every roll above 6 becomes a 5.
With a +4, the lowest roll I get is a 5.
I'll always win.

Perfect decomps are OP. They should cap at +/-3, so you have some leeway on critical fails or critical successes. Even a cap at +/- 4 will mean that you can be made to misfire with the right amount of circumstantial modifiers.

No, that'd require a roll of probably 20 or something. Getting 5s all the time mainly means I won't be burning half my body away every time I try to singe something and such. Doesn't grant me omnipotence or anything, but it does make me a lot more reliable.

I still think you could be a Tyranid if you consumed enough stuff and worked out that splitting mechanism.

Personally, I'd just install a 'nade launcher on the battlesuit's shoulder or something so the hands are free to wield something bigger.

Well, with a universal manip, good uncon bonus and decomp, one can do most things that are possible with a manip (except influence living things), but such a character would be stupidily unbalanced and in need of serious nerfing

Xan is the Tyranid version of the pirates that don't do anything.

I think that every time a decompensator is used it further reduces your mind points and there's no way to make those regenerate faster. You'd probably end up with a big case of brain damage if you overuse it.
