What are the rules around here on Alt-accounts? I recall something relating to them being against forum rules, but they don't seem to be mentioned in the forum guidelines. I had a vague idea at some point to use alternate screen names for some form of Experimental Forum Game Shenanigans, and I wanted to make sure such a thing was legal.

Some of the better-known forumgoers have joke alt accounts for well-timed Spanish comments, but I haven't heard anything about alts lately.

I'd guess it depends on what you use them for. I doubt anyone would care in Forum Games (unless it was serious business forum game), but I think people would frown upon it if you, say, used sock puppets in the discussion threads to promote your views or something.

There have been bad uses of it before, but also harmless ones; I would be especially wary of the rules, but otherwise fine.

I do remember Toady brought the hammer down on an alt account someone made in one of the Battlefailed series. Then again from what I know they may have just been posting odd onomatopeia to represent the forgotten beast they were pretending to be. I don't know all the details

IIRC there was a Mafia game where the moderator created an alt to serve as a sockpuppet in-game. I forget if Toady ever commented on that, but maybe somebody knows what I'm talking about.

Don't actually do this. Your players will hate you when the librarians kick you out and the game dies because the GM no longer has access to the GM account.
