Drink pile blocked by emptyy barrels
« on: January 10, 2014, 12:56:32 pm »

How can i make a drink pile?   I have lots of empty barrels.
If i allow barrels dwarfs put as many empty barrels as possible /allowed on the pile and don't replace it with full barrels.
If i set allowed barrels to 0 dwarfs completly ignore the pile..

I tried to put it to take from link only but empty barrels are carried from all over the map.

Thx for your ideas. Urist McNub.

If you set a food barrel to only accept drinks, only full barrels will be put there. Empty barrels go to a furniture stockpile. Yes you need to set the maximum allowed barrels to maximum, but you don't have to enable them in the settings of what kind of goods it accepts.

If they rush all those barrels there even if you really have a drinks only stockpile that doesn't accept empty barrels, they're not empty

If you want a booze stockpile: create a food stockpile.  Then go into its setting, and disable everything.  Then enable drinks (plant).  That's all.  Don't touch barrels/bins.

A booze stockpile will always contain exactly one empty barrel due to the general stockpile logic reserving an empty container for new items - since dwarves never haul drinks and store them into barrels (they always brew the drink directly into the barrel), the single empty barrel will never be used for anything, but it's not really that big of a loss.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.

This is why you must never create a 1x1 drink stockpile - it must be at least 2 tiles or larger, otherwise it will never store anything.
