Original article was December 11th

According to a dec 20th update, groundwater has been leaking into the tunnel and is hampering efforts to identify the cause of the stoppage. Still no news what's blocking Bertha, and they're now saying they're unlikely to have an answer until January.

Here's some background information on the drill and the drilling project.

Here's Bertha's twitter page.

Aaaand they've hit an aquifer. Better get that obsidian casting going if they want to dig deeper.

I now imagine Toady walking out of there, just saying ''Sup?', then walking off to continue with DF.
Oh so that's what it is.
He's built a giant fort underground to model DF off of.

Eh, PTW, why not.

I'm sure it's nothing like... a big rock.

That couldn't be it at all.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Eh, PTW, why not.

I'm sure it's nothing like the tension of miles of turning steel just gradually reaching a pitching point and therefore making a deposit of iron seem as though it's a lot harder than it is.

That couldn't be it at all.
So... Lots of limonite?

That twitter page is wonderful. This is the kind of PR bullshit that is entertaining enough to stomach!

Is there a TVTropes page for this kind of cameo?

I think the closest would be something like "But to me, it was just Tuesday" or whatever that one was, without the evil bit.

That's not it. I mean, it's technically true, but not what I'm talking about.

(Greatorder I'm not trying to bash on your post here, I'm not trying to be insulting, which is why I was initially vague.)

I mean a cameo where the person enters non-sequitur, says a stupid one-liner or even just one word, and nonchalantly leaves. The character has no development and no chance to show any traits - in fact, the writer could know nothing about the character and still use him this way. It's used not to improve or affect the story, but to insert the character just so you can say the character was there.

For example:

(In the middle of a long story) A bunch of scientists are debating, and the ghost of Feynman floats over. They stop talking and look at him. He shrugs and floats away. They continue talking.

It feels like it would be called Pointless Popup Cameo.
