How would that game run anyway? I mean, you can't really blame the Mayans for wanting not to have their civilization face eradication and the magical girls didn't choose to be magical girls.

But seeing as it is imperative to kill them, I suppose the players would play as the people in the front lines of the conspiracy, hunting down and killing supernatural beings to delay the inevitable, possibly assisted by magical girls who share the same ideals who, they know they have to eventually execute later...

Hell, if you want to make it even more heartbreaking, you could have one of the characters assisted by their magical girl daughter who is assisting despite knowing their eventual fate due to valuing the collective lives of her friends and family over that of her own. Would be very interesting RP'ing as the parent and daughter. Knowing that their time together is limited and that the former must eventually kill the latter.

I would run it but I'd probably end up having it run by the players through some type of thread just for what monsters and plots are currently happening. Also information from my sister who knows more about mythology than me says that the Mayans only sacrificed people to make the sun keep coming up.

Obviously the whole sun thing is just a cover story so that the common people are fine with sacrificing innocent girls, magical or otherwise. Or maybe it's just a misunderstanding and people hunt the magical girls out of tradition, not knowing that they'll herald the end of the world.
