There is no way to mess up in RTD's, unless you escape the rules that the GM sets up.

Otherwise there are no ways to mess up. At all.

Poor writing? I don't know..  Almost all RTD's that I've been in haven't lasted more than a few weeks or so, so I don't have much experience in character development and such.  Anyway, I think that's enough from me for now.

On further thought, I must complain about my character's obvious and permanent appearance change.
After all, no one else received a similar change due to their powers and they didn't get a 5 in their nothing bad happening to them roll.
And such a change in appearance would be a bad side-effect; having to explain away the changes to everyone who knew my character before the event and making it much harder to not completely stand out.
I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't for that 5 really.
