Apparently, RP'ing in the actual RPG wasn't enough for them so they started RP'ing in a freeform, and more meta-aware OOC environment.

From my understanding, the popularity of these is not so much because people like the genre as much as it is that people can't precisely define the genre, so it invites the infamous insanity of Bay12 to create something that technically fits the vaguely defined boundaries of the genre. In short, it is primarily because people can act with greater lunacy than usual. Well, until in that lunacy they invent other words for insanity with etymologies affixed to other celestial bodies for the sake of equality.

And then more games got them and it eventually culminated in EVERYTHING: GAIDEN, a thread where every roleplay in the history of B12 exists and interacts. All of them. Retroactively if need be.

This is the first magical girl game I've seen, let alone been a part of, so this should be.. interesting to say the least.

Same here. At the very least, it'll be fun reading the thread as things happen (instead of having a 1000+ post monster to wade through).
