- What the...
Take my pistol and make a shot into the air. If no reaction is present, go check out the living buildings.
You fire your pistol into the sky. The shot resounds loudly off the walls. Some snow falls off the gate. All is quiet.
Carefully, you approach the closest building. It's a two-story wooden house with a green-painted door, roofed in sheet metal. The windowsills are carved into elaborate shapes; you count fifteen windows lengthwise. Carefully, you tug at the doorknob. It's locked, but the door isn't that strong: you could probably knock it off its hinges.
You look around: the view gives you a momentarily haunting feeling - it's empty, quiet, and tidy. Something about all this feels heart-wrenchingly familiar, but you can't quite put your finger on it.
Reinforce the leg with armored plates to make it more durable.
Design a pair of eyes with therman, NV, wireless uplink hud and better then 20-20 sight.
[6+1] You are suddenly struck with artistic inspiration: while you are fitting the armor plates, you use a laser cutting torch to mold and slice them into fantastic forms: claws, wings, creeping vines. When you are done, the leg looks like a lion's forepaw, only more humanoid. Its fingers are tipped with wicked steel claws, in addition to the retracting blades, and the armor is carved with a complex intermeshing pattern. You never had any idea you could do things like that before.
Making the eyes is easy, since it's essentially the same as Chester's eye, minus the need to match optics. You have a pair ready soon.
"Allright."
Head to the messhall, get some dinner
Man, russian got harder when I learned the cirrilyc alphabet for real. To the book! And no, still no idea how to spell...
You head up to the mess. The bartender seems to be sleeping face-first into the bar. You try to shake him awake, but he only gives you a look of narcoleptic indignation and falls asleep again. Shrugging, you squeeze past him into the back room. There are several crates of canned beans, some sweets, a half-finished can of energy drink, various booze, some self-heating cans of soup, and a coffee machine that looks like a cross between a tank and a vacuum cleaner.
Are you feeling enthusiastic yet?
((I'm seriously glad Russian is my first language. It would have been such a pain in the ass to learn otherwise.))
