Sees Bouchart going for the flint

Hold up, Bouchart. I said if anyone else wanted it I'd leave it to further discussion. I propose we flip for it, there are plenty of coins here.

((Highmax, could you please do a dice throw or even an actual coin flip? I'll be heads if you do use a coin))

"I have no use of the flint or bedroll, take it as you will. Now. As for you."

Goes behind the goblin and starts talking.

"I have no intention of scaring you but in this situation I am willing to give you two choices. You either agree to come with us as our cart rider and help us in any way you can, therefore keeping your life for a time or"

Shows the dagger in front of his face at a safe distance.

"this goes in your throat. Oh and I forgot to mention that we have a few precautions in place that aren't limited to Weston's in case you were thinking of trying something funny at any time. So what will it be, Goblin?"
He nods really quickly, fearing the dagger a bit. "Yes lord. Whateva ya say lord..."

Karl shrugs to Nadarr

"That's fine. I might make use of the bedroll, unless Symon wants to hit things even harder then he already does. Though... it might need to be cleaned first." Karl grimaces, thinking of however many goblins have used it in the past.

"Is there anything special to know about the backpack? It seems odd it was tossed in with all the gold down here."

"I used ta hide some baubles in dere but one ov dem kept on disappearin' until I reach' fer it. I tink it hides someting inside ov it iv you want someting hidden dat is."

((You already got the orb, but I'll do it anyway))
(8) Bouchart wins the "flip" ((odds Nadarr, evens Bouchart)).

The time is roughly an hour or so until high noon. Unless you stay here for another few hours, you should reach the capital in the afternoon ((~3:00, just thought I'd point this out so you know how much distance you got for leaving before daybreak))

Symon takes his share of the gold.

"That's fine. I might make use of the bedroll, unless Symon wants to hit things even harder then he already does. Though... it might need to be cleaned first."

"N-no. I'm f-fine. You can have it..." Symon goes and takes a look outside. "It's g-getting close to n-noon. Are we g-going to eat here?"

"Glad to see that you don't wish to die just yet, goblin. Now, as to my insurance..."

Weston began chanting in an ancient, primordial language, moving his hands above the goblin's head the entire time. Finally, he tapped the goblin gently with his new staff and switched back to Common.

"I have placed my mark on you, goblin. With but a single special word, I can stop your heart and kill you in an instant. However, a different word can dispel the mark and leave you free. If you are loyal and amend your ways, I will release you. If you betray us, you will die. Sounds simple enough, right?"

Karl wrinkles his nose at the abattoir stench of the watch tower.

"Perhaps a few hundred feet away? Corpses aren't the most appealing bouquet to eat to."

Go back to the wagon with the loot, bringing along the goblin.

"Say, Goblin. Does somebody of your kind have a name? Me? You can call me Chief."

(18 vs 4) The goblin believes you.

You grab the bedroll and Symon, I assume, takes the backpack.

Everyone runs back to the wagon to see its still perfectly fine and all its cargo is still on board.

Go back to the wagon with the loot, bringing along the goblin.

"Say, Goblin. Does somebody of your kind have a name? Me? You can call me Chief."
"Cheif eh? You can coll me Grot. Wha' abou' da rest of ya fellas? Wha' do I call dem?"

He sees the wagon and hops on the driver's seat. "Well... I neva done dis befo'. I betta learn quick den." He then mumbles about at least being able to see over the horse. Assuming you all start to move, everyone spends two healing surges and heal half of your hp back up. NAdarr is out of healing surges. Everyone is back to full HP.

You continue on to the capital without a hassle, and the goblin indeed learns quickly about the way to drive a carriage.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You all arrive in the capital, but some people give a few dirty looks to your new friend. They don't really do much but frown however. What does the party do now? It is ~2:43pm. You have time to make a few rounds about town grabbing some gear quickly (no haggling) before heading out for another good distance before it gets dark. OR you can spend the rest of the day shopping, exploring the town and rest up at the inn. You all arrive in the trade district.

Welcome to Athkatla:
