"Then go get some rope reeds, dimple cups, pig tails, blade weed, hide roots, and Valley herbs."

"Got any example drawing, equivalence description or the plants off hand? Text and very basic tile sets are not detailed enough to replicate the necessary information when looking for a specific plant... I could go collecting blind use guesswork and have someone else pick through whats edible, however the second you start talking mushrooms and the effect of toxic spores mixed in with edible plants- well that's how people get very sick."

I look sideways at ICBM,

"Or I could go looking for strawberries, prickle berries (which I assume are either raspberries or gooseberries), and maybe guess on rope reeds? I mean are the caverns even open?"

[Zanzetkuken The Great]

Zanzetkuken walks through the main hall, since the commotion outside began to die down.  He heard a few people mentioning the various foodstuffs, and said in passing, "Don't forget we only have longland grass, pig tails, wild strawberries, and whatever we can scrounge off the villagers, IC.  Stop thinking gourmet."

[ICBM pilot]

"I don't want them for food, I want them to make fishing nets so we won't have to dedicate as much time to finding food and spend more time figuring out how to make metal things."

[Erils]

"You make metal things by hitting a heated sheet of metal with a hammer. I've never done it, but it doesn't seem too hard. Do we have any metal? Or a furnace?"

[ICBM pilot]

"Just a furnace."

[Erils]

"Well then we just need metal. I'm going to head out and hunt some more, maybe look around for any signs of...I don't know...goblins? It will probably be a long time before any come though."

Erils turns and heads out the front of the cave and into the forest nearby.

[Zanzetkuken The Great]

"Just a furnace."

"A wood one at that.  If you want metal, a smelter and a forge need to be built."

[ICBM pilot]

"Who decided that it was a good idea to make a furnace out of wood?"

[Zanzetkuken The Great]

"Who decided that it was a good idea to make a furnace out of wood?"

Zanzetkuken gave an exasperated sigh.  "Wood burning furnace, not a furnace made of wood.  You know, where you get ash and charcoal from."

(You'd also need ore. Which just looks like rock unless you know what you're looking for, but there are people to teach you.)

"I could try making a furnace out of stone. It can't be much harder than a cabinet. Speaking of which, is there an empty room somewhere for Necrisha, or do we need make one?"

(It's a lot harder that it sounds... believe me )

(You'd also need ore. Which just looks like rock unless you know what you're looking for, but there are people to teach you.)

(GWG apparently managed to find some hematite first day.)

"Cabinets aren't built to withstand the intense heat of the fires to melt ores and are not built to provide a continuous airflow to keep the fires living, but not flowing through quick enough to snuff out the flame or use up far too much fuel."

Zanzetkuken thought through the floorplan and remarked, "I think we made a couple extra rooms for the villagers staying overnight if it was getting too late.  Check to see if any of them are open."

"Who decided that it was a good idea to make a furnace out of wood?"

Zanzetkuken gave an exasperated sigh.  "Wood burning furnace, not a furnace made of wood.  You know, where you get ash and charcoal from."

"Oh I thought you might have been trying to see if there were and new features that toady forgot to remove."
