Any way I can get rid of infection?

I know it takes forever for an adventurer to die,but this is my best adventurer so far and I don't want this sneaking up on me.

Where's the infection? If you have it on a digit, you can always retire your adventurer and have another one bite off his finger/toe

If you don't mind cheating a bit, you can use dfhacks dfusion to heal the adventurer.

Not sure if there is a way to alter the raws a bit so that it actually heals.

Yeah, if you can't use DFusion, retire him and get another adventurer to bite the infected parts off.

      Dwarf hack doesn't work for some reason. And getting a

highly likely the adventurer with infection would kill the other,he's a legendary fighter and an adept swordman

Mod nails and cartilage to heal in the raws. Everything will be magically healed the next time you fast travel, though you'll still be covered in pus.
