I just watched Goku beat the crap out of some anime girl... What?
I noticed the "real Gokus" tend to have pretty high quality sprites. like something out of an anime fighter.

I lost 100 bucks on Silver Samurai V.S Goku because I thought all DBZ characters were a joke.

Burter, man. Also the big Ginyu. The good Krillin. I've seen a couple of good Gokus (and I do believe there's at least three, maybe a few more, that are good without resorting to the beams). Always bet Raditz (because Raditz will one-shot basically everything with any of his attacks). Frog dude's surprisingly solid. Some of the Vegitas are good. Most of the Brollys wreck face. There's... more. DBZ's incredibly inconsistent in terms of quality and capability but there's a fair number of great ones in the mix.

I remembe seeing a REALLY REALLY REALLY close match between Vegeta and Captain Marvel(the golden one). That match was beautiful.

Also, I'm at 666 salts for the filth time this week. I'm not even Illuminati. It just happens.

One thing you can do when you don't know the fighters is to try to read the tone of the chat. Quite often you can tell if it's an uneven match (and which way it leans) by how people talk. It's not completely reliable of course, but one of the biggest tells is if a bunch of people start spamming "always/never bet DBZ/waifu/MSpaint/tits/etc." or fake/real, especially with iterations of Ryu and Akuma.

I recently made a significant amount of money by realizing the crowd was all going for someone who had just gone and proved himself fairly good (even though he lost), while a few people said something on the variation of "Small Ryu is doomed". The other guy was a better fighter, even though the crowd remembered Small Ryu.

I guess the moral is you can do well if you read the crowd, just know what exactly to be reading.

Heh. For every time that's true, I've seen it be false. It depends on how well that chat's doing at trolling at that particular moment* or the general mood. Better is probably to track the few people that actually give consistently good advice and listen to them, at least if you're going the chat oracle route. Personally, I generally consider the chat to be inherently unreliable noise when it comes to who to bet on. Chat's there for other reasons :P

*Because remember, a significant amount of them are trying to get other people to bet on whoever they're not betting on, and there's at least a notable minority of them that are just as good or better at playing mind games than you are at reading them.

E: On the other hand, it can be pretty great to see the chat's response when you actually know what's about to happen with a match, especially if it's one that is, or at least looks, close. That can be wonderful :3

I tend to do the opposite of whatever the people who have the highest noise:content ratio are telling us to, if I don't know the fighters.

I'm not going to bother with this if A) the chat window issue doesn't get resolved and B) they don't start showing characters I actually want to bet on. I'm unable to pop the damn window out as there are no options for such a thing when you click on that gear. Please provide me with some valid help on this here issue.

I once made like 200 on a match that I don't remember that well. One of the guys was a blue low robot kinda thing and the other one I don't even remember. Apparently everybody tought the other guy was gonna win.

MadMal, I have a maximized window on a smaller screen than yours probably and it works fine, but you could just go to their twitch.tv page and grab the chat off of there.

As to the characters, those are random pick afaik.
